Pedro Javier Gonzalez, one of the leading flamenco guitar

concert performers in Spain.

His latest album Babia, is a collection of original music for

solo guitar. Pedro Javier is characterized by his fidelity, for

over 30 years, to a very particular music language that

escapes from the superfluous virtuosity and stands out for its

elegance and sensibility.

He has lent his quality to many artists such as Joan

Manuel Serrat, Roberto Alagna, Manolo García, among others;

and has shared a stage and festivals, with Paco de Lucía,

BB King or Tommy Emmanuel. Some festivals such as

Adelaide Guitar Festival, Sydney Guitar Festival or Voll-

Damm International Jazz Festival of Barcelona have already

enjoyed his expertise.

BIOGRAPHY

In october 2019 he presented “Babia”, a new album that can be

defined as a “guitar monologue” since there are no more actors

or scenography in it than that of the wooden instrument and six

strings.

In “Babia” there is no cajón, there are no palms, there is no bass,

there is no overdubbing or any instrument or accompaniment

effect; just a bare guitar track that recites through nine own

songs interpreted with a direct musical language and the

revision of a melody collected by Federico García Lorca.

With bulerías, fandangos, bolero, alegrías, rondeña and

granaína, among others, "Babia" is an album conceived from

the rhythm of some of the classical flamenco pieces. All of

them, composed and interpreted through the particular

language of the guitar of Pedro Javier González.

DUO

Pedro Javier González – GuitarHoracio Fumero – Double bassFlamenco / Jazz / Traditional

The two artist that make up this duo have individual trajectories, very

marked by them instruments that accompany them: a Spanish guitar does

not usually go too far from Flamenco, and the double bass is certainly an

instrument that owns much of his current development to Jazz. If we add

to all this that these are two musicians with Latin American toots, born on

both sides of the Atlantic, the basic lines of their musical discourse are

defined.

Double bass player Horacio Fumero and guitarist Pedro Javier

González tune their strings together, and invite us to a musical

journey through warm and evoking sonorities. Young Bailaor José

Manuel Álvarez is added to this consolidated duet providing a

third dimension in a rhythmic and visual level. The scene take

place between the madness and sanity of Jazz, and the solemnity

and liveliness of flamenco, both music genres in which

improvisation plays a crucial role.

SEPTETO

Septeto is the show that gathers

the excellence of the previous

performances. In this act the

flamenco concert guitar

becomes versatile, shining with

its maximum splendor. Between

the swing of Flamenco and Jazz,

there is a flirt with classical

Spanish music and even with

international pop rock. The third

dimension of rhythm and visual

expands when the stage is filled

with the talent and youth of

dancers José Manuel Álvarez

and Carol Morgado.

ARANJUEZ’SCONCERT

Pedro Javier González joins the great number of noted musicians who, over the years

have performed Joaquín Rodtigo’s great masterpiece, making it the most recognized

Spanish musical piece in the world.

It is divided into three moments, it begins with an allegro with a inspirited folkloric spirit

and a danceable character, continue with the famous dialogue between the guitar and

the adagio`s orchestra to conclude with a gentile allegro, which evokes a courtly dance.

“Babia is the blank canvas that precedes the painting, the silence on which the music that

ends up exploding in colored sounds emerges”
