Dosimetry services for your work with ionising radiations

RP Alba Ltd is an authorised distributor for Mirion Technologies.

Through this agreement, RP Alba Ltd can provide you with approved dosimetry services for external dosimetry and record keeping.

We provide good value services focussed on excellence and are able to offer a cost effective service to small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) as we pass on the cost savings achieved through the scale of our distributor agreement with Mirion Technologies.

Mirion Technologies act as the Approved Dosimetry Service (ADS) and hold the certificates of approval for this service from the UK’s Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

RP Alba Ltd is set up to understand your dosimetry requirements and support the provision of all of your dosimetry needs. RP Alba Ltd is suitably positioned to help employers adhere to all relevant aspects of compliance with the Ionising Radiations Regulations 1999 (IRR99).

Dosimetry can be provided for classified persons, monitored workers and non-classified persons.

The types of legal external dosimetry that can be provided include:• GenesisUltraThermoluminescentDosemeters (TLDs) for measurement of whole body radiation doses from beta radiation, gamma radiation, slow/moderate neutrons and X-rays;• OptionalFastneutronCR39dosemeter contained inside a Genesis Ultra TLD;• Ringdosemeterorfingertipdosemeterfor assessment of extremity doses;• Instadose™dosemetersforrapidassessment of gamma and X-ray radiation doses.

Routine issue dosemeters can be supplied at monthly, quarterly or various other issue periods as required for the type of work that you perform.

Dosemeters are supplied to the locations that you require them at, along with a transit control, and following their use they are to be returned for assessment to Mirion Technologies.

RP Alba Ltd distribute dose reports following the assessment of returned dosemeters. All dose reports are stored in our secure client log-in area for easy retrieval and use. If any significant

radiation doses are recorded then these results are highlighted and can be discussed with one of our Radiation Protection Advisers (RPAs).

If you prefer an instant dose read-out then the revolutionary InstadoseTM device should be considered as it can be connected to any computer with internet access and an USB connection to provide a precise measurement of radiation dose. This gives you complete control over when and how frequently doses are assessed and reviewed. The InstadoseTM device allows concerns about a possible exposure be addressed immediately as you can get an instant read-out.

Ouraimistotrytokeepoccupationalradiationdoses to a level that is as low as is reasonably practicable (ALARP). A good way to demonstrate that radiation doses are ALARP is to measure them with suitable dosimetry.

All doses are suitably recorded with the Mirion Technologies Record Keeping Approved Dosimetry Services. At any time 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, individuals issued with Mirion Technologies dosimetry can view their own external radiation

dose record online which helps give employees peace of mind that their radiation doses are low.

For classified persons, we can assist with the additional requirements of the Ionising Radiations Regulations 1999 (IRR99) including the:• provisionofradiationpassbooks;• updatingofradiationpassbooks;• ensuringstatutoryreturnsaresubmittedto the Central Index of Dosimetry Information (CIDI).

RP Alba Ltd can also help with ensuring other employer requirements of IRR99 are complied with, including provision of adequate training to persons who may be made classified persons.

If your employees are going to be doing work in elevated external radiation areas then RP Alba Ltd can also supply real time electronic personal dosemeters (including intrinsically safe units for potentially explosive atmospheres) to help actively monitor and potentially reduce their external radiation doses.
