Handling of Bell mounted OLTCs during VPD & Tanking at Trafo end

    Correct method:

Diverter switch should be fitted on OLTC

    with Headonly.

    Head

    Wrong method:

Diverter switch should not be fitted on

    Aluminium Bell mounting Top flange

    without OLTC Head.

    Alu. Bell Mounting Flange.

If the diverter switch was mounted on the

OLTC head then the gap will be achieved

in between Nylon numbering disc gear

    and Diverter Fixed Contact Shell(DFCA)

    Gap 4 mm.

If the diverter switch was mounted on the

Bell mounting flange with out OLTC head

then the Diverter Fixed Contact Shell(DFCA) will foul on the numbering disc

    Nylon gear resulting damage in

Handling of Bell mounted OLTCs during VPD & Tanking at Trafo end

Fouling of Diverter will led to damage of

    Numbering disc Nylon gear teeth.

Fouling of Diverter will also lead to

damage the center stem of Numbering

    disc Nylon gear.

Two types of gear damage due to

improper handling of OLTCs during VPD

    and Tanking process.

    a) Teeth broken.b) Stem broken.

    Conclusion:

Diverter switch should not be inserted without OLTC Aluminium / Fabricated Head.
