TDATE$ Timestamp Introduction
• The original design of the OS 2200 TDATE$ format timestamp has led to potential ambiguity in the year 2028. This ambiguity is related to how OS 2200 perceives date and time.
• The compressed year in the TDATE$ format timestamp will cause the timestamp to “wrap” and cause the system to see the year 2028 as 1964.
• Therefore, the TDATE$ format expires in its usefulness on the last day of the year 2027.
© 2017 Unisys Corporation. All rights reserved. 40
TDATE$ Impacted Areas
• Several areas of Unisys system software are affected, such as:
– MFD (standard & shared)
– Accounting
– Freespace
– Program Files
– Initial Register R2
– Media Manager
– ER TDATE$
• Client applications may also be impacted, depending on how they are using configurations and timestamps.

Unisys Message to clients
• Unisys is in the process of changing Unisys software in phases, rolling out over the next several OS 2200 releases.
• By 2022, no TDATE$ format timestamps will be produced in any Unisys products, structures, or interfaces.
• Unisys is assessing tools and services for clients to provide them with ways to move forward at their own pace.
• Time Considerations for ClearPath OS 2200 SystemsUnisys has created a comprehensive document which was made publically available as part of the OS 2200 16.0 and significantly updated for the 17.0 release. Additional updates will be included in 18.0.

Unisys TDATE$ Services
• Unisys is developing services that will be available for clients who require assistance in TDATE$ remediation.
– Assessment Services which include Application Health Check to analyze TDATE$ usage, determine impact, and provide recommended actions
– Remediation Services to adapt client applications and/or utilities

How clients can prepare for AB Suite for OS 2200
• Stay up to date with EAE Interim Corrections
– Be sure both Developer and Runtime ICs are current
• Begin the journey to full DevOps through Team Foundation Server Version Control
– TFS Version Control is integrated with EAE Developer using an API
– Replaces proprietary EAE Version Control Bank
– Supports use of a common tool for version control and release management
• Begin to organize and clean up your application while in EAE
– Logically organize the model using Activities and Functional Areas
• These will map directly to Folders in AB Suite Developer
• Good way to provide visibility for your model’s structure
• Does not effect Runtime application
– Remove “dead wood”
• Logic, Reports, GSD and Dictionary items no longer used
• Old configurations

“Bimodal IT” posits that IT organizations of the future will have two separate flavors: Type 1 is
traditional IT, focused on stability and efficiency, while Type 2 is an experimental, agile
organization focused on time-to-market, rapid application evolution, and, in particular, tight
alignment with business units.
