The Pi Sigma Epsilon National Educational Foundation National Awards and Scholarship Programs recognize the out-standing achievement and performance by chapters and individuals. These programs were created to provide profes-sional exposure and experience to collegiate members prior to their entry into the business environment. Pi Sigma Epsilon realizes that these competitions would not be possible without the dedicated volunteers who generously donate their time and unwavering support to our fraternity and the companies who present the awards. Thanks to all the alumni and corporate partners that serve as judges and as Pro-Am coaches. You make Pi Sigma Epsilon a premier orga-nization.

The Honorary Life Membership award is Pi Sigma Epsilon's most pres-tigious and highest award, intended to distinguish those PSE members who have consistently made an outstanding contribution to the fraternity, the pro-fession of sales and mar-keting, and to the wel-fare of their
community. Since 1952, only 27 people have received this award. We honor an out-standing member as our 28th recipient, Dave Keeling.
As a collegiate, Dave was initiated into the PSE chapter at Southern Illinois in the spring of 1983. After graduating in May 1985, Dave served on the National Council in various positions: VP of Professional Programs, Alumni VP, Executive VP, and was PSE National President for three years from 1999-2002. Dave is one of only two presidents to serve
in that position for three years. Dave currently is chairman of the PSE National Educational Foundation. A position he has held since 2010.
Dave’s passion for PSE, his counsel and advice, his advo-cacy of PSE and his commitment to excellence have made Dave an invaluable board member and leader of this frater-nity.
In his professional career, Dave is General Manager of the Steel Recycling Institute. He
has been with them since 1990. He and his wife, Kristin, have two daughters and a son.
The Honorary Life Membership Award is a fit-ting tribute for all of Dave Keeling’s hard work, lead-ership, and especially his steadfast dedication. Congratulations to Dave and we thank him for all he
has done for PSE.

PSE News
Social media is a pivotal part of your job hunt, that’s a given. You need to make sure that you have a strong presence and identity on the internet that is accessible and appealing to employers and recruiters. Once you have established your-self on the internet you are in a better position to apply to job vacancies as employers can easily find you and see your details, experience and achievements.
Start a blog
Blogs are a great way to get your name out there and get noticed. They are a fantastic platform to showcase any pro-fessional or commissioned work you might have done or, if you haven’t written or published anything yet, then start writing blog posts just for fun to build up the content on your blog. The beauty of blogs is that they are diverse; some blogs are like diaries and others are more like a portfolio of work. Their flexibility of purpose means you can personal-ize it to what works best for you and what you are trying to achieve. The free blogging platforms Blogger and WordPress are good sites to use- you’ll be up and running in no time at all. To boost application success send your blog link along with your application so recruiters can see your work.
Be active on twitter
Twitter is an incredibly useful tool for job hunts and devel-oping your personal identity on the internet, especially as it is public. Use twitter professionally to follow companies and businesses that you are interested in and want to get noticed by. If you have a question or comment about their business or website then get in touch; send them a tweet or direct message to make the initial contact. Retweet anything they post that you think is particularly interesting and keep your tweets professional and relevant to your job search. Your tweet history will tell the employer a lot about who
you are so is a big part of your brand; make sure its squeaky clean and professional. Over 40% of companies use Twitter for recruiting and 64% have successfully hired through social media; so it’s worth using it! Use the advanced search tool, twitter.com/search, to find out who is talking about what you are interested in and where. Then, you can follow them and begin to interact until you have successfully added them to your network. When it comes to applying you will be in a better position as it shows you have done your research.
Keep your LinkedIn profile up to date
Over 80% of companies use LinkedIn for recruiting yet only 35% of job seekers utilize this. LinkedIn is a great way to get informed of what jobs are out there, and if you’ve got a great profile then it will boost your chances of getting noticed by browsing recruiters. Make sure you sign up to LinkedIn and put all your relevant experience and achieve-ments on your profile to really sell yourself. Having a full, detailed profile will give you an identity and really help to establish yourself on the internet. Keep an eye out for job postings and connect with professionals in your fields of interest. When you find a post you are interested in then apply and use your connections on LinkedIn to boost your chances.
Have two Facebook accounts
Basically everybody in the world has Facebook, which is great, but it also means that everything you post on it is never really private, even if you have adjusted your settings accordingly. A good idea is to have two separate Facebook accounts; one for your personal life that must be set to pri-vate, and one for professional use where you can add employers and like relevant business pages. Set your profes-sional account to private if you wish, but you will be more accessible and visible to employers if it is public. Don’t post any incriminating photos or statuses on this account; save those for your private one! Keeping all the nasty secrets from late nights out safely hidden away will give you a squeaky clean image for employers to find, meaning you are more likely to be successful in the application process.
