It's time for our annual Bolin Service Project! This year, it's super
simple- we are donating birthday party supplies to an organization out of
Dallas- The Birthday Party Project!
This organization plans and provides birthday parties to kids in homeless shelters, women's shelters, Ronald McDonald houses, and more. Kids who would not have their birthday recognized at all because of their
circumstances get to celebrate like all kids should, thanks to The Birthday
Party Project.
This Friday we are having our Spring Fitness Fun Day! Please be sure to have your child wear their class
t-shirt and tennis shoes.
Dear Parents and Second Grade Students,
On May 19th, the Second Grade students will be participating in the
Second Grade Market. The purpose of this Economics Project is to have each
student make (produce) something at home to sell at the market. Students will
be using their classroom money they have earned to buy (consume) products from
other second grade students. Half of the second grade students will sell their
items in the morning and the other half will sell in the afternoon.
After market, students will count their income, calculate their profit, and
analyze their market plan in class.
PROJECT DETAILS:
Each student plans and makes their products.
They decide how many to make and how much the items will cost.
Create a poster (22” x 28”) that states what the item is or “Store Name”, how
much it costs, and any other eye-catching advertising they would like to
include.
PROJECT TIPS:
-Students will be selling to about 40 other students. (Plan to make for
at least 20 students)
-Usually, Second Graders will be able to spend between $1.00-$3.00.
-Liquids and items that need refrigeration are not permitted.
-Food items must be individually wrapped and may not be consumed at school.
-No nut products allowed.
-When packaging items, please remember that these items will be taken home
in a bag by second graders…no glass…or loose items that aren’t contained.
-Use your creativity! Items must be school appropriate.
We will need a few volunteers to help manage market. If you are available
to help on the day of market, please contact your child’s second grade teacher
The MARKET PLANNING SHEET is going home today, and will need to be
returned to your child’s teacher no later than April 17th for approval.
Thank you,
The Second Grade Team
