2. Defense-grade Security. In recent years, malware has increasingly targeted mobile operating systems with the intent of rooting or jailbreaking the device to make it vulnerable to further exploits such as spyware and communication interception. However, despite the rise in high-profile mobile malware attacks, anti-malware adoption continues to remain flat with a global adoption rate of less than 5%. Industry Certifications. MobileIron maintains and continually updates a long list of industry certifications.

FIPS 140-2

FIPS 140-2 is a National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standard for cryptography and its utilization. This standard is recognized by many governments and public sector organizations including the U.S. government.

FedRAMP

FedRAMP is a mandatory U.S. government program that provides a standardized approach to security assessment, authorization and continuous monitoring for cloud services.

SOC2

Service Organization Controls (SOC) are a series of accounting standards that measure the control of financial information for a service organization. They are covered under the SSAE 16 and ISAE 3402 professional standards.

DISA Approved STIG

The Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) is approved by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) for deployment on Department of Defense (DoD) networks.

Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) is designed to secure fingerprint records, background check information, and other criminal justice information that is stored with or shared between local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.

A National Information Assurance Program (NIAP) approved Protection Profile, which includes requirements to ensure particular functionality is present, addresses DOD-specific needs for mobile device management servers.

Mobile App-to-Cloud Security Reduce the threat of data loss with advanced security across the entire mobile and cloud infrastructure. Typically, all a user has to do is enter their credentials on any device, app, or cloud service to access data from the cloud — which puts enterprise data at tremendous risk. MobileIron is the only EMM vendor that provides unique access control capabilities to solve these mobile app-to-cloud security challenges.

MobileIron Access is a cloud security solution that allows IT admins to define granular cloud access control policies based on device posture, application authorization, and user identity. It helps bridge the gap between mobile and cloud security and provides better insight into how users are accessing enterprise cloud services. Access uses a standards-based approach that helps quickly detect and remediate mobile app-to-cloud threats such as:

• Unsanctioned cloud app: When a user connects an unauthorized third-party cloud service to a corporate cloud service like Salesforce, this puts corporate data at tremendous risk of exfiltration to a malicious cloud source.

• Unmanaged app: This is an IT-approved app, such as Salesforce, Concur, Box, or Dropbox, that a user downloads from a personal app store instead of the enterprise app store. This means the app is unmanaged, and therefore unsecured by IT.

With MobileIron, if a user attempts to access cloud apps via a non-compliant device or insecure app, he is presented with a customized remediation screen that walks him through the steps necessary to bring the device or app into compliance. No help desk intervention is required. As of this writing, AirWatch cannot block these types of risky apps.

MobileIron continually checks device posture to ensure that devices accessing company apps and data are fully compliant with corporate security policies. If a device fails compliance checks, IT can restrict access until the security posture is remediated. MobileIron EMM also allows IT to securely distribute apps like Office 365 through the MobileIron Apps@Work enterprise app store. This helps to ensure Office 365 data remains secure on the device or in motion to Microsoft Cloud. Only trusted apps and devices can access Office 365 data when it’s secured by MobileIron.

Secure Email. Don’t compromise between email security and employee productivity. Allow employees to choose between secure native email or a high-security containerized option that delivers the experience employees want with the data protection enterprises require. MobileIron supports certificate-based authentication to simplify user access. It also provides conditional access based on the device’s security posture. That means no more worrying about data in third-party servers or service outages. IT can also wipe all email data if the device is ever lost or stolen. Best of all, these capabilities can be expanded to Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, and IBM Notes.

Secure Mobile Apps. Protect app data on any device or network. MobileIron offers critical app security capabilities such as cross-platform, government-grade encryption of app data at rest and in motion. It also supports the AppConfig community’s standards-based tools and best practices that enable a more consistent, open, and simple way to configure and secure mobile enterprise apps.

Organizations can also take advantage of the enhanced security capabilities of Samsung KNOX as well as the MobileIron AppConnect framework. AppConnect offers an extensive ecosystem with more than 150 third-party and in-house apps, so this solution is ideal for organizations that need to deploy wrapped apps with support for single sign-on (SSO), app-level access control, and app-specific configurations. It also enables secure access through DLP enforcement for corporate intranet and file-sharing without requiring a VPN. AppConnect-enabled apps can also be deployed to the secure workspace of the Android for Work app.

Secure Per-app VPN Connectivity. IT can empower users to securely connect to authorized cloud services and access internal web apps and intranet sites without having to manage VPN connectivity. Our appliance-based architecture allows organizations to have one gateway for all devices, which is ideal for a long-term mobility solution. This means there is no need to manage a Windows gateway for Android per-app VPN or Linux gateways for iOS. This type of architectural complexity can lead to higher design, deployment, and maintenance costs, and ultimately increase TCO.

Secure and Seamless User Authentication. Protect against modern threats by going beyond basic SSO. MobileIron is the first EMM provider to launch secure SSO, which is a context-sensitive, certificate-based, identity provider-neutral approach to cloud authentication. Users enjoy the benefits of password-less access to enterprise services while IT ensures that only authorized users and apps can connect to backend resources.
