“Fröhliche Weihnachten” Everyone!

Christmas is almost here. Are you ready?

We’re down to the last dance of the year, the New Year’s Eve Gala. Andrea Szirtes is busy taking reservations for this special event, and suggests you call her right away to reserve your seats, as the tickets are selling fast. Tickets can be purchased from her Friday Evenings in the Hubertuskeller, or by calling her at 289-280-0451. Admission is $60.00 p/p for members and $80.00 p/p for guests. The menu for New Year’s Eve is not included in this letter, but Andrea will have it for you in the next few days.

Our hall was beautifully decorated as always for the Nikolotanz. The “Golden Keys” played exceptionally well this time; the music was very much in keeping with the Christmas Season and our taste. Many thanks to the volunteers who played Nikolaus, Krampus and the Devils. I noticed there were no pennies this year. Oh well, the economy is hitting everywhere..

The Christmas Show is a sellout! Arno Risse deserves a big Thank You for organizing this event and selling tickets so diligently on Fridays. We’re looking forward to the next Show in the Spring, Arno!

The Entertainment Committee wishes to thank everyone who helped to make the Children’s Christmas so successful. Thank You to the Parents, Grandparents and everyone else for the donations of time, cookies and cakes which we all enjoyed. If you have grandchildren or great-grandchildren under the age of ten who did not attend this year, be sure to sign them up for the next year. The clown did an outstanding job of the balloon animals this time, they truly were a work of art!

The “Jägertanz” is also coming up fast. Tickets are $32.00 p/p and are available only from Anneliese Höpp at 905-634-8918. I’m really looking forward to this event, especially the smoked fish!

This is the time many of us reflect on the past year, and our good fortune. It is also an appropriate time to think about the club members who have passed away over this year, and the good times we enjoyed with them. We have several new members who have joined us; please make them feel welcome by introducing yourselves at the next dance or on a Friday Evening.Also, please make time to give a personal “Thank You” to the members of the Executive Committee for the outstanding job done this past year. It takes countless hours to make all the events happen; I have found that the smoother the event flows, the more work is required.

Some announcements from our subgroups:The Ladies’ Auxiliary will meet again on January 31st 2014 at 6:30 p.m. Please call Helga Schopf at 905-664-6254 if you have any questions.The Fishers & Hunters will meet again on January 10th in the Hubertuskeller, and will put the final touches on their Jägertanz to be held on January 25th.The first movie of the New Year will be shown on January 12th, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. The feature will be “Das sündige Dorf”, ein bäuerliches Lustspiel. Coffee and homemade cake will be available as usual. John Cekr will have the Lineup till the end

of February available at that time, so it’s important you be there. He is available at 905-385-1394 for any questions you may have.
