Parent Training

Our three-year district strategic plan (SOAR III) has identified goals around social/emotional well-being

and/or bullying. For this reason, we have contracted with Jeff Veley to work with our staff, students, and

parents during the 2017/18 school year to begin to address and frame these goals. Jeff’s message works in

combination with other programs such as Bucket Fillers, Be Nice, etc., teaching students how to grow in

their resilience and peacefully respond to dominance behavior. We believe that Jeff’s “Peace Sign Approach”

is a simple and effective way of providing our students with the skills they need to address peer-to-peer

conflict.

Our middle school staff spent 3 hours training with Jeff, and our students attended his assembly in October.

 Now it’s your turn!  Parents are invited to attend his parent training this Tuesday,  Nov. 21st. It will be held

in the HS Main Campus Auditorium from 6:00-8:00pm. This is indeed a training you won’t want to

miss!

Calling all artists - are you interested in designing this year’s yearbook cover and back cover?  Please pick up a yellow instruction sheet in the office and return your design to the office by Wednesday, November 29th!

OPEN TO ALL BMS STUDENTS

Need something to do while your family shops on Black Friday? Come to BMS’ Open Gym from 10:00am to 1:00pm for $2.00 admission you can play various sports and hang out with friends. Any questions, please see Mr. Arnoys. All proceeds to go to the Renaissance Fund to support our students!!

BAND BLAST:

Just a few friendly reminders from the band room!

Our 7th and 8th grade JAZZ BAND is going FANTASTIC! Students are having a blast (literally) and enjoying the opportunity. If you are interested in the schedule still, please let me know.

Our BSMS Band Winter Concert will be held on Wednesday, December 6th, 6:45pm at the HFC Auditorium. Information was emailed out last Tuesday evening and is available on the BSMS pages of hudsonvillebands.org. Please let me know if there are conflicts or questions!

Finally, have three BIG fundraising initiatives currently going on through the Hudsonville Band Boosters. All proceeds go towards the events and programs at the middle school and high school band classes. They are:

Just in time for the holidays - show your Eagle Pride and support the Hudsonville Band Programs!  We have exciting gift ideas for all Eagle fans K-12, parents, and proud Hudsonville Eagle Community members!  A portion of all proceeds will help support our band programs.  Whether at Riley, Baldwin, or Hudsonville High School, or your son or daughter will soon be at these schools, the Boosters are working to provide resources needed to ensure our student musicians can follow their dreams both now and for generations to come!  Time is limited - place your order by November 27 for delivery by Christmas.

The Hudsonville Band Boosters is happy to announce that Marco's Pizza is sponsoring our band programs as our 'Restaurant the Month' offering a 20% donation to the band program.  Please show your support at Marco’s Pizza  on Tuesday, November 21st anytime between 10:30 am and 10:00 pm and mention Hudsonville Bands to be a part of this great fundraiser!

The money raised will assist the Booster program in providing the finances, manpower, and awareness needed to present our young musicians with exceptional music education and performance opportunities.

Ski & Snowboard Club

Hudsonville Public students, siblings and parents interested in purchasing Discount Ski Club Cards to Bittersweet Ski Resort

in Otsego, can ONLY sign up now with the new Eagle Ski & Board Club online system.  You will be able to purchase club

cards ($16), bus passes ($20) and Eagle ski and board merchandise, along with club apparel. Cards allow discounted rates

on lift tickets and rentals.

COMMUNITY BULLETIN BOARD

~Zutphen CRC invites you to a presentation given by Protect Young Eyes on December 6 from 6:45-8:15PM. This

presentation is designed to enlighten parents, grandparents and teens (ages 14 and above) about the digital culture of kids

today, equip them with strategies for creating an internet safer home and encourage them to be observant, engaged and

informed. Protect Young Eyes exists to give busy parents and hyper-connected kids the information and tools they need to

use technology awesomely. If you are someone who interacts with teens or children, please join us for this free event. A

~Michigan Ballet Academy is presenting the magical holiday classic, The Nutcracker, with original choreography by

~Looking for a Thanksgiving fun run right here in Hudsonville that also benefits a local charity? Join us On Thursday, November 23 at 8am as we embark on the third annual Calorie Deficit Run, where we torch our calories BEFORE the big feast AND support Hand2Hand ministries in the process. After all, on turkey day, everyone deserves pie. That's right, this 5k or 15k event is free, we just ask that you consider bringing a food item or small cash donation to support Hand2Hand ministries. Parents/Guardians will be able to “shop” for 3 gifts per child. All gifts will be wrapped before you leave. Children that attend will be able to select a gift for each parent/guardian in the home – no charge. Free Stocking Stuffers, Hats, and other Handmade items available to select from.

SIGN UP PROCESS: DEADLINE TO SIGN UP - WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 22

1. Come to the Relational Ministry Center at Love INC (2nd Floor) between 9 AM and 4 PM, Monday – Friday. 2. Share your interest in participating in Love’s Spirit of Christmas Event. 3. Complete a brief Intake and Application Form. 4. You will receive a follow-up phone call if eligible to attend the event and to schedule your time to shop.

SHOPPING TIME: Shopping times will be scheduled every 30 minutes.

We need YOU to join us! Classes are available now!

Would YOU like to become a volunteer in a classroom? As a Junior Achievement volunteer you will work with the classroom of your choosing to

teach programs to inspire students with concepts such as work readiness, financial literacy,

and entrepreneurship!

All you need to volunteer is enthusiasm, a positive attitude , and life experiences to share!

classroom once a week for six weeks
