H.M. Cowdroy Pty Ltd is a history makingcompany that was first formed in 1890 as anadvertising agency. Since that time H.M. Cowdroyhas created history a number of times byproducing many FIRSTS in several fields ofendeavour. These include, the first illustratedadvertisement in the Sydney Morning Herald andthe WORLD'S FIRST sliding glass aluminiumtrack, the latter being an invention that changedthe direction of the company and put it on the fasttrack to leadership in the Australian HardwareIndustry. Both of these firsts continue to play anextremely large part in today's life.

H.M. Cowdroy's other major inventions include thehighly successful ball bearing sliding glass track, asashless sliding window and a sliding door tracksystem featuring ball bearings on a top racesection, which was patented and sold undermanufacturing licence around the world.

H.M. Cowdroy also produced the StarlineShowcase. This innovative, ahead-of-it's-timealuminium and glass design was a majorbreakthrough and was an instant success in theshopfitting market.As a direct result of the successof the Starline Showcase, Cowdroys decided tocreate a special division, within the company, tomanufacture and supply products specifically toservice the shopfitting industry. This divisionremains a force in the market today.

In 1984, after outgrowing the original 2 premises inSydney City and Balgowlah, H.M. Cowdroy Pty.Ltd. purchased new premises on 1.4 hectares atSmithfield to cater for both business andtechnological expansion. Throughout the mostrecent years H.M. Cowdroy have undergonemany changes to ensure that market demandsand consumer requirements are being adequatelyserviced.

Many rollers are adjustable. This adjustment may be actuated byeither a screw or a nut. Generally, bottom sliding systems are screwadjustable and top sliding systems are nut adjustable. (Some rollerassemblies are spring loaded and may be removed easily). Thefollowing steps will help in the removal and replacement of rollers.

1. Identify the adjustment mechanism (i.e. screws or nuts).

2. Loosen adjustment to allow door to lower. (In screw adjustment turnscrew anti-clockwise to lower door. In nut adjustment loosen the nutson the rear of the race assembly to lower door then re-tighten slightlyonce door has "dropped").

3. With adjustment now loose you should be able to lift and manouvrethe window/door off the track and guides. (See figure a.)

4. Rollers can be removed from panels quite easily as most are eitherscrewed, bolted, clipped or spring loaded.

5. Assess your track for damage and cleanliness. You may want toclean the track and, in some cases, your track may need a lightsanding to ensure your rollers run as smooth as possible.

6. Replace rollers and re-install doors by reversal of theabovementioned procedures.

7. It may be necessary to adjust rollers in order to ensure correctoperation of latching/locking mechanism if present.

Should there be no visible means of adjustment then it may bepossible to lift and remove the window or door without alteringit's position.

In some instances, such as glass patio doors, the removal of afixed panel may be necessary in order to remove the door.

OTHER BRACKETS.

ADJUSTABLE ANGLE BRACKETS.

As well as the standard brackets, there are special purpose brackets for angled shelvesand hang rails. These brackets are made to work basically the same as the standard brackets.

These brackets are often used where angled shelves are required. They are made in two parts, alugged backplate and a bracket blade, are rivetted together and are held on the angle by a wingnutand screw. The backplates come in 2-lug for sizes from 150mm to 300mm and in 3-lug from 350mmto 450mm.The five angle settings, ranging from horizontal to 70° (in 17.5° increments), allow for versatility inproduct display.

The bracket blade has 2 shelf rest locating cut-outs and a cut out for the optional tilt tips.

HANG RAIL (RING) BRACKETS.

These brackets are used to hold a hanging rail (25mm O.D. tube) which is to support items such ascoat hangers. The brackets are standard 3-lug type in 280mm and 350mm and have a ring welded tothe tip. This ring will accept up to a 25mm Diam tube and has a thumb screw tapped into one side forstabilisation.

SHELF RESTS.

Optional plastic shelf rests can be used with either glass or timber shelves to reduce movement.The rubber “grommet” helps minimise movement of glass shelves but may also be removed toallow for screwing to a timber shelf.

Cowdroy Gondolas are supplied in components for DIY assemblyand require no fixing hardware - they simply lock together.

The robust posts incorporate a 50 x 32mm slotted tube upright and32 x 32mm tube legs. Slotting is at 40mm pitch - the most commonpitch in the Australian shopfitting industry and is compatible withmany other systems in the market.

The system is pre-finished in durable powder coat - Whitein colour (unless otherwise stated). Other powder coat colours areavailable on request.

1. Ensure all fixing points arestrong enough to take theexpected weight of the system.

2. Mark fixing point on ceilingor wall and floor at requiredcentres.

3. Fix ceiling/wall connectorinto place.

4. Ensure tube is 40mm smaller(min.) than clear opening height.

5. Slide cover sleeve over tubeand fit levelling jack into theend of the tube.

6. Locate the top of the tubeover the ceiling/wall connectorand adjust levelling jack to asuitable height. Do not fix yet.

7. Use a spirit level to check thevertical line of the tube.

8. Fix levelling jack to floor usingappropriate fixing hardware.

9. Repeat the process for all postschecking the horizontal level ofthe slots as you go.

Fixing Recommendations

The slotted tube system is well suited to open access windowdisplays, island displays, partition style displays and as displaydividers.You can also use the slotted tube system for storerooms andbackrooms.

It is imperative that the fixing points and the fixinghardware you choose are suitable for the application in whichyou intend to use the system.

Cowdroy Beam Racking is suitable formany storage and racking applicationsincluding garages, store rooms andfactories. May be used in a single standalone bay or in multiple bays joined toboth sides of the ladder frames.

Beam Racking is supplied in componentsfor DIY assembly and requires no fixinghardware.

Ladder frames are made from 32 mm Sqtube with “Top Hat” joining rails. Slotting isat 40mm pitch - the most common pitch inthe Australian shopfitting industry and iscompatible with many other systems in themarket. Floor fixing plates are welded to thebottom of the ladder frames for stability.

Joining Beams are made from 50 x 32mmtube with 3-lug brackets on each end.

The system is pre-finished in durable powdercoat. Standard colours include White Lustre,Vanilla, White, APO Grey and Black.Other powder coat colours,

Cowdroy Beam Racking may be used withsteel shelves or 18mm MDF shelves.

5. Returns will not be accepted after seven (7) days. All returns must have prior authorisation and mustbe in good order and condition. Cut to length aluminium extrusions and special orders will NOT BEACCEPTED FOR RETURN. Freight must be borne by the customer and tax invoice numbersmust be quoted at all times. Depending on circumstances a processing surcharge may apply.

6. Damage in transit or goods not manufactured to specification must be notified within 24 hours ofreceipt of goods.
