Catholic Charities and the Herkimer County Prevention Council presented some of their services to the families in attendance, while Dolgeville mayor Mary Puznowski recognized the members of Reality Check: Will Rauch, Chris LaTendress, Dakota Jeffers, Alexia Jaikin, Phoenix Longway, and Ashton Montana. Director of Athletics Report – June 19, 2018 Board Meeting

A. Update on Sports:

Varsity baseball finished 10-7-1, losing to Little Falls 10-4 in their first round sectional

game.

JV softball finished 11-3 and we will be moving to Varsity competition next year. With

everyone returning next year I believe we should be very competitive at the Varsity level.

Varsity Track had a good year with 20 + athletes qualifying for sectionals. The boys

4x100 team finished 7th in Section 3 small school. Emma Bilinski won the Section 3

championship in the Discus. We had 6 athletes qualify for the State Open Qualifiers.

Emma Bilinski advanced to the State Championship Meet and finished 12th in the state in

the Discus.

Modified Baseball finished 9-2-1, modified softball finished 5-7-1, modified track had a

nice season and won the modified league meet held at Frankfort.

Our golf intramural team was a success for the first year. Coach Bray recommends

having another year of club golf before starting a competitive golf team.

C. Facilities:

Gym 2 (New Gym) will be unavailable for use from June 25 through July 24. The

gym 2 floor will be resurfaced (as per normal in summer) and cured during that period.

Gym 2 will be available for the John Wallace Basketball Clinic July 25-27 and for other

use after that. Gym 1 (Old Gym) will be available for use during July and then will be

resurfaced once Gym 2 is again available.

The track is starting to peel up in certain spots and will need to be re-surfaced in the next

building project.

I would like to try and build up the baseball infield before tearing it up putting in new

drainage.

New Softball dugouts should be done in the near future.

D. Additional Notes

The John Wallace Third Annual Dolgeville Basketball Clinic will take place July 25th –

July 27th.

In your BOE packet you should find my recommendations for coaching positions for next

year.

I am asking for the BOE to approve a possible second girls modified soccer head coach.

We have 32 girls signed up for modified soccer. We are looking into having 2 teams.

We will NOT have a boys modified soccer team due to low numbers.

TO: BOARD OF EDUCATION FROM: DAVID REDMOND RE: BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS REPORT DATE: June 12, 2018 This month we completed about 35 work orders.

Numerous set-ups for various events, Regents, as well as many sporting events, have also taken a fair amount of our time.

Having to now mow everyday along with all the other things going on has made it challenging. We did take a bit of time to mulch up the flower gardens and Katrina Cheney of our staff has helped out with her green thumb and has the flower gardens looking very nice. In the middle of May, we had what seemed like a strange issue with our energy management system. It did not want to start the a/c for the auditorium. I called in Upstate Temperature Control that oversees the system and they found a much bigger problem. The company that installed the new unit for the auditorium installed all the refrigerant expansion valves in backward. It is one of those things that would not have been found during start up because it was hot outside at the time and the valves were wide open. This mistake was missed, not only by the installer, but also by the company they hired to check the system out on start up. The installer was sent pictures of the problem and has been working with us to try to repair the damages caused by their mistake. Upstate has spent a few hours troubleshooting circuits and have come up with a way that we should be able to override some circuits in order to run at least half of the system for the graduations until final repairs are completed. Although slightly risky, it is the only option we have for these events.

The new small boiler is in the process of being installed and this should be completed by the end of the month.

Next week our summer work begins.
