Indeed, wasting seed is prohibited by the Torah, and it is a serious prohibition. But it isdi erent than other negative commandments. The Torah tells about Er and !nan who

Long ago, Gabbi achman o Breslov had recogni6ed Simcha as the /ey to success in religionand coming truly close to AaShem. In stressing the importance o Simcha he went so ar assaying that depression - the antithesis o Simcha - constitutes Othe main bite o the serpent#the Yet6er Aarah$O. Aow ar should a person struggle to remain stead ast and avoiddepression2 The lesson is best illustrated by the ollowing story Gabbi achman told to his

    disciples:

OBut what is the antidote or the person who eels so heavy, so depressed, that no words oencouragement or advice have any e ect2O

There was once a poor man who earned a living digging clay and selling it. !nce, whiledigging clay, he discovered a precious stone which was obviously worth a great deal. Sincehe had no idea o itMs worth, he too/ it to an e5pert to tell him Its value. The e5pertanswered, O o one here will be able to a ord such a stone. &o to London, the capital, andthere you will be able to sell it.O The man was so poor that he could not a ord to ma/e the

9ourney. Ae sold everything he had, and went rom house to house, collecting unds or thetrip. inally he had enough to ta/e him as ar as the sea.

Ae then went to board a ship, but he did not have any money. Ae went to the shipMs captainand showed him the 9ewel. The captain immediately welcomed him aboard the ship withgreat honor, assuming he was a very trustworthy person. Ae gave the poor man a special

irst class cabin, and treated him li/e a wealthy personage. The poor manMs cabin had a viewo the sea, and he sat there, constantly loo/ing at the diamond and re9oicing. Ae wasespecially particular to do this during his meals, since eating in good spirits is highlybene icial or digestion. Then one day, he sat down to eat, with the diamond lying in ront ohim on the table where he could en9oy it. Si ting there he do6ed o . Deanwhile, the messboy came and cleared the table, sha/ing the tablecloth with itMs crumbs and the diamond intothe sea. 1hen he wo/e up and reali6ed what had happened, he almost went mad with grie .Besides, the captain was a ruthless man who would not hesitate to /ill him or his are.Aaving no other choice, he continued to act happy, as i nothing had happened. The captainwould usually spea/ to him a ew hours every day, and on this day, he put himsel in goodspirits, so that the captain was not aware that anything was wrong. The captain said to him,

OI want to buy a large 7uantity o wheat and I will be able to Sell it in London or a hugepro it. But I am a raid that I will be accused o stealing rom the /ingMs treasury. There ore, Iwill arrange or the wheat to be bought in your name. I will pay you well or your trouble.OThe poor man agreed. But as soon as they arrived in London the captain died. The entireshipload o wheat was in the poor manMs name and it was worth many times as much as thediamond.

Gabbi achman concluded, OThe diamond did not belong to the poor man, and the proo isthat he did not /eep it. The wheat, however, did belong to him, and the proo is that he /eptit. But he got what he deserved only because he remained happy. Q

It is up to each o us never to lose hope, and li/e the poor man in the story to whomeverything appeared lost, orce onesel to be happy. Even a a/ed, ungenuine, happiness, has the power to trans orm our situation and lead us to genuine 9oy.

But what is the antidote or the person who eels so heavy, so depressed, that no words oencouragement or advise have any e ect2 To the one who eels he has reached the end o

his rope ... eeling so low and discouraged about himsel that he can only term himselOdead.O Gabbi achman throws a li eline: Ae stresses the statement o the &emara that inthe uture, Aashem will resurrect the entire body through a certain bone /nown as the OLu6O.Invisible to the eye, the Lu6 de ies destruction. 4laced on a stone and pounded repeatedlywith a sledgehammer, eventually the sledgehammer will brea/ in two and the stone willshatter into a thousand pieces - but the Lu6 will remain intact and unharmed. OThus we see,Osays Gabbi achman, Othat no matter how low a person has allen, there e5ists anindestructible part in him, that can orm the basis or a new resurrection - a new li e.O

ocus on your Lu6 , advises Gabbi achman. s/ AaShem to help you ind that indestructiblepart, that essence o yoursel that no sin or mis ortune can erase. Bind yoursel to it.3oncentrate on it. llow it to gladden you and ma/e you happy. Then, even i you indyoursel in the deepest, dar/est pit without the slightest trace o hope or light - still, you willalways ind your way out.

!n a larger scale, the ailure to ind the Ogood point,O is responsible or undermining all ourrelationships-especially in marriage. ll con lict arises rom an inability to see the good inanother person. ault- inders abound.

The /ey is, e5plains Gabbi achman, to 6ero in on the good point -- the pure, untarnishable,

indestructible, utterly redeeming eature that e5ists in each and every one o us, and use itto rebuild our image o others and ourselves.

person who /nows the techni7ues o battle and can ight consistently little by little until hereaches the day that he has completely destroyed his enemy. This person will rise up andcontinue no matter what alls and obstacles are placed in his path.

The way the Yeter Aarah wor/s is very simple. t a general point in time when a person is incontrol o his mind he has almost no control over him. Ae then draws him in little by little, itcould start by having him loo/ at an impure picture, bring an impure thought into his head orany number o ways. Ae then draws him more and more into his trap. In the beginning aperson can still pull bac/ however as a person transcends into the impurity he starts loosinghis will to pull bac/ little by little until he reaches a point where he thin/s that it is impossibleto stop.

The Solution to this is very simple although very hard to cary out. I t is, to stop it be ore itstarts to demolish it be ore it begins. The second a person eels this Yeter Aare gaining eventhe smallest entrance over him he must run and do everything in his power to get away.Even i he eels that he is miles away rom committing the actual sin.

The only way a person can do this is to start ma/ing boundaries. Every person must analy6ewhere he alls and start chopping away at those places. ot at the sin itsel but ten steps in

    ront o the sin.

There is also another issue that even when a person does all within his might not to go ne5tto a sin there are going to be times when he will be tested and he will be placed in asituation against his will. In this place he must ma/e use o e5tremely drastic methods toescape at all costs. It is here that he proves that he is truly Shomer Aabris. It is here that hereceives his biggest Ti/un when he is orcibly passed through those same situations in thesame constricted mind rame and he immerges victorious.

Aowever all this is very hard as a person will be placed through thousands o tests which hemust pass. Ae must van7uish impure thoughts rom his mind hundreds o thousands o timesuntil he is victorious. 1hen a person loo/s at all this it seems humanly impossible to do. Thisis because he is not aware o the important act that the more times he wins the stronger hebecomes. Every time he passes a test the easer it becomes to pass it again. There will be apoint when he will loo/ bac/ and the tests that loomed in ront o him li/e huge dar/mountains will suddenly appear to be nothing more then little pebbles. Ae will reach a timethat he will laugh at the past wea/nesses that controlled his li e.

Aowever even i a person accepts this act as being true since he can not actively e5perienceit, it is e5tremely di icult or him to act upon it and use it as a motivation to ight such ahuge battle.

person who wishes to become Shomer Aabris must do the ollowing tune out everythingelse and say I am going to try being Shomer Aabris or the ne5t wee/ a ter that what everhappens happens. ter that wee/ a person must start again i a person alls on the way it isnot a big deal he should orget about it immediately he 9ust has to re ocused his energiesand start again. Every time a person wins it becomes easier and easier until he has totallyle t his previous actions and has gained ull control over himsel .

him little by little until he is committing the sin and has no ability or desire to control himsel .

There is only one solution or this and that is to never all into that situation in the irst place. person who wishes to be Shomer Aabris, especially i he has allen many times be ore must

have ten barriers between himsel and the sin. The second he bra/es through the irst two all

the alarms must start going o in his head. By the time he has bro/en the third barrier hemust even due an e5tremely anatical action to get away. Even though he is still miles awayrom the actual sin and he believes that he can pull bac/ at any second he wishes, it is not

true there will be many times when he will all. Ae is losing more o his mochin every secondand the control he has over his will now will not be the same in a short period o time. Aemust run away now even though it seems ridicules.

person must sit down and ma/e a list o all the things and situation that cause him tostumble. Ae must then set boundaries so he will not even come close to being in thatsituation.

    1 / Watching ones eyes

3ha6al teach that the eyes see the heart desires and then the body acts. person should notloo/ at any improper images at any time.

person might as/ what is so bad i I read a news maga6ine, it will never cause me to sin, Iam in ull control. #besides the act that each time a person loo/s at an improper image andhas an impure thought that in itsel is a sin$. Yes this is how a person all, most times is hewas drawn into impurity rom places li/e this little by little.

    2 / 3o not say no4 say later

The evil urge attac/s a person through many ways including despair and con usion. I aperson loo/s at the act that he can never commit the sin or the rest o his li e he maybelieve this to be impossible and give up all together. This is especially important when aperson is in middle o a test and barely has the ability to ight this one round. The second he

brings into his mind the act that he must orever be Shomer Aabris it is to much to handle,he then eels a complete helplessness and gives in to his temptations.

1e have also established that the whole temptation to do an act o 4gam Aabris is atemporary sprit o insanity that overcomes a person and then leaves him immediately a terhe sins. I a person manages to push o the temptation or even a short period o time manytimes he wea/ens it greatly. Ae can then easily prevent himsel rom committing the sin.

This is what a person should do. 1hen he is overcome by temptation and does not believethat he can overcome his desires. Ae should not try to completely ight o the desire to dothe sin. Instead he should say to himsel that he will commit the sin and he will do so reely, but not now rather in 8-; hours. This is not so hard to do or it is a lot easer to push o theevil urge then to ight it o completely. person can in every single case push o thetemptation or a period o time.

Even though part o the condition was that he would be allowed to commit the sin when theallotted time arrives, he might not even have the temptation to do so at that point. It is alsopossible that even i he still has a desire to commit the sin it is much wea/er then it was alittle earlier and now he can push it o again using the same techni7ue but this time it will beeven easer. lso as the allotted period o time elapses and the desire wea/ens a person canstart doing some Ti/unim and by the time the set period arrives he will be so strong that hewill laugh at the act that he wanted to commit a sin 9ust a short while ago.

Aowever all this is only a ter he has pushed o the temptation. t the time he is pushing ito , he can not thin/ o any o this. Ae is only agreeing to push it o or a period o time a terwhich he may sin reely. I these thoughts do enter his head at that time and try to convincehim that it is all a tric/ and that he will stumble in the end, so why not 9ust sin now. Still hemust say to himsel , i I all in two hours, I all and it is irrelevant to me now. Gight now I amma/ing an e ort to push it o or two hours and then what ever shall happen shall happen. I I win I win and i I lose so I lose.

!n a larger scale, a person should sum up how o ten he alls to these sins. I a personAeaven orbid is 4ogem once a wee/ or even once a day #Gachmanah Let6lan$ on an averagebasis, he should ac/nowledge that act. ssuming he is 4ogem once a wee/, he should say tohimsel instead o being 4ogem once a wee/, rom now on I will be 4ogem only once every

two wee/s. !n this second wee/ I will be 4ogem reely and not even try to stop mysel .

This is what a person must doC most times when the allotted time arrives he will be able topush it o urther. Even i he alls and commits the sin when the time has arrived he has stillwon, because he has ul illed his condition and has only sinned one time in the time he hasnormally sinned twice. ow that he sees it wasnMt so hard to hold o until the allotted time,he can add more time to the condition and push o the sin or three wee/s.

This is what a person must do, push o the sin more and more until he wea/ens it and brea/sit completely. I he alls in the middle, it is not the end o the world he will 9ust get right bac/up and continue pushing it o again and again. I he gets bac/ up a number o times andcontinues ighting there is no doubt that soon he will brea/ this

Q !ne also loses his desire to study torah and do mit6vos.

Q Hust li/e a person creates children through intercourse so to a person draws down soulsevery time he spills seed. Q These souls are immediately captured by the orces o evil who torture and starve them

stealing all their energy or themselves. Q The souls brought down through a persons sins are also considered his /ids. Q They are not to happy about the position their ather put them in. Q ter a person dies these souls come to ta/e revenge on their ather, causing him manyproblems. Q In addition they also come a ter his physical children and try to harm them. Q There are a number o halochos during the uneral and shivah that help prevent this.

Q Using energy ta/en rom this person, the orces o dar/ness give birth to Lilim #se5ualdemons$. Q These demons hang around a person steal his energy, con use him and stic/ thoughts inhis head. Q >o not let this ama6e you or i one meditates he will see many thoughts streamingthrough his mind are not his own. Q These thoughts include se5ual thoughts, thoughts denying &-> or 9ust the worthlessthoughts that clutter a persons mind most o the day. Q t night these demons in luence the persons dreams, and cause him to have nocturnalemissions #mi/reh lilah$.

Q I a person /nows what he is doing he can climb to high spiritual levels. Q Someone who was pogem habris has damaged the si irah o Yesod, it is impossible orhim to get ar unless he recti ies the laws he created.

Q 1hen a person wants to stop being pogem it is very important or him to start learningthe basics o o not wear tight clothing especially underwear #wear only bo5ers$. Q >o not do anything that will warm your body be ore going to sleep. Eating certain oodsand wearing certain clothes can give a person temptations. Q It is sel understood that you should not go near any boo/s, movies, maga6ines, music,Internet and newspapers. ll these are over lowing with 6uhamah. Q I one is smart he will avoid them completely. >o not say OI can continue to watchmovies, read boo/s but stop sinningO those who say this are ools. Q Everyone should analy6e their own personal situation and devise a plan to escapedestruction. This includes many ences and preventive measures.

Q s we mentioned be ore wasting seed causes a lot o damage in the spiritual worlds andhas many physical mani estation.

Q Stopping is the irst step however many recti ications #ti/unim$ must now be made. Q ote the more ti/unim a person does the better he will eel. Q Dany se orim #holy boo/s$ describe ti/unim or this sin, however many o them aree5tremely harsh and not meant or this wea/ generation.

Q lso note these ti/unim can also help a person to stop being pogem, they can remove alot o the temptations and se5ual thoughts.
