ABOUT FLORIADE

Floriade is a month long festival of flowers filled with food, live music, shopping, demonstrations, talks and hands on activities that celebrate Spring, all set against a backdrop of over 1 million blooms.

Held in the heart of the city in Canberra's beautiful Commonwealth Park, Floriade 2019 will run from Saturday 14 September to Sunday 13 October. It is a free event open 9.30am – 5.30pm daily.

This vibrant festival presents an amazing and ever-changing visual display that encourages a high rate of return visitors from year to year and across the duration of the festival.

Last year over 480,000 visitors came through our gates, including over 100,000 from interstate and overseas.

Almost three quarters of our visitors are female, and while the over 55’s are well represented (36%), the event attracts visitors across all age groups and is very popular with families and young children.

Dogs Day Out is a day for attendees to bring their furry friends along to Floriade to frolic amongst the flowers. Dogs Day Out will be held on the final day of Floriade, Sunday 13 October.

TRADING AT FLORIADE DOGS DAY OUT

Dogs Day Out will take place on the final day of Floriade, Sunday 13 October.

For the Dogs Day Out weekend Events ACT are looking for high quality vendors who are passionate about their pooch products to add to the vibrant festival atmosphere and be part of a unique shopping experience for our visitors and their pets.

This collection of outlets will be curated to showcase a variety of original and creative pet products that complement the look, feel and ethos of the event.

Vendors must be committed to providing a quality customer experience. Professional and creative presentation is important and we encourage vendors to interact and engage with Floriade visitors.

All vendors will be located outdoors in the following precinct:

• Stage 88 LawnsLocated in the centre of the site, this location is also host to majority of Floriade’s food vendors. Tables and chairs will be placed around this space to encourage patrons to stay and shop. This is a large grassy expanse very appealing to dogs and their owners.

WHAT IS INCLUDED

The site fee includes the following basic site package:

• Standard marquee and flooring (3x3m)• Standard fluro lighting• Front fascia signage with Floriade branding and trading name • Single power outlet and power supply (1 x 10amp)• Access to rubbish and recycling disposal bins

Vendors trading out of a marquee must use a marquee provided by Events ACT which meets all relevant Australian Safety standards.

Connection to gas and mains water( if required) will incur additional charges and can be pre arranged using the Floriade preferred supplier

Vendors can request extra equipment, but will be charged for anything not outlined in this basic package.

WHAT WE EXPECT

Events ACT is committed to delivering high quality events and we expect a high standard of presentation, product and service from our vendors.

If you are selected to trade at Floriade Dogs Day Out 2019, your vendor agreement will detail the full terms and conditions of trading, but please consider the following before you submit your application.

• All vendors/vendor employees must complete a site induction • All vendors must complete the Floriade site safety checklist• Professional and respectful conduct is expected at all times• Only approved products may be sold from the stall• The sale of prohibited, hazardous or dangerous goods is not permitted• We reserve the right to prohibit or restrict goods sold/displayed on site• No alcohol is permitted at Festival stalls• Spruiking and microphones are not permitted• All pedestrian pathways and roads must be kept clear• Stalls must be kept tidy at all times, both front and back of house• Raffles and/or fundraising is not permitted; competitions are fine• Vendors must not erect any extra structures on site, without approval• Vendors will be charged for damage done to property within the event site• Unauthorised use of the Floraide name and logo is prohibited

We want you to have a positive trading experience and to understand anyrestrictions or requirements of trading at Floriade Dogs Day Out 2019.

• Allocation of your trading site is at the discretion of Events ACT• Vendors must operate within their allocated footprint• Business sharing and/or subletting is strictly prohibited• Security of your stall and belongings are your responsibility • Cash or valuables SHOULD NOT be to be left onsite overnight• Professional licensed security will operate on the event site 24 hours a day • While every effort is made to secure Festival sites, no responsibility will be taken

by Events ACT for loss or damage to any person or goods• Vendors will be issued with one (1) site access pass, which will allow one vehicle

access to vendor site for bump in and bump out• Each vendor will also be issued with one (1) parking pass to allow access to the

event car park located a short walk from the event site• Vendors are responsible for all cash management, point of sale, cash registers

and EFTPOS to run their business• ATMs will be available onsite for patrons

Please be aware that this is an outdoor event. Your stall will be subject to whatever weather conditions nature throws at us. We do our best, but things will get dusty.

Floriade maintains a high standard of safety across its sites. Floriade staff and externalconsultants will be inspecting vendor work areas regularly to ensure compliance.

While on site, all vendors and their staff are required to comply with national Work Health &Safety (WHS) Act 2011 and Floriade site conditions.

Any concerns regarding set-up or safety will be raised with the vendor and MUST beremedied immediately.

All food and beverage vendors who are selling or providing food or beverage samples onsitemust adhere to the Food Act 2001 and the Australian New Zealand Food Standards Code andprovide the following safety equipment* within their site:

ELECTRICAL

Stallholders are responsible for bringing their own extension leads. Extension leads maybe hired for an additional charge.

All leads and cables must be tested and tagged by competent person to a standard defined by AS/NZS 3760:2010 Testing of Electrical Equipment.

Electrical equipment that is not tested and tagged or the use of homemade electrical equipment IS NOT acceptable and will be removed from site.

Electrical equipment must be of an approved design that complies with Australian Standards.

You will be charged for any electrical faults that occur and require an electrician to attend if you have provide incorrect information.

FIRE SAFTEY

All fire safety equipment must be AS/NZS 1841.5 certified and approved, and have current inspection tags.

Events ACT is committed to reducing the environmental footprint of our events and we need our vendors to do their bit.

All Floriade vendors are required to:

• Avoid using single use plastics wherever possible*• Flatten any cardboard boxes and place them in the trash packs

located in the waste compound. • Place general waste bags into the bins provided • Place recyclables into the recycling bins provided• Look for ways to minimise water usage• Look for ways to minimise power usage

If cooking or providing food or beverage samples onsite:

• Use only biodegradable packaging and utensils • Dispose of used cooking oil in the containers provided. Only used

cooking oil is to be placed in this container• Place waste water in the containers provided. At no time is waste

water to be disposed of on the grass, gutter or drains• Place all food waste into the compost bins provided

* All single use plastics will be phased out by 2020

2019 Floriade Dogs Day Out Vendor Application

It is important that you address all the questions and include all the information we ask for in the Application form.

What you submit is what we will use to decide who is offered a spot so tell us what you have to offer. Attach pictures or give us links to your website or social media.

An application is not a guarantee of acceptance.

We are looking for fresh contemporary ideas that align well with the Floriade vision; a celebration of Spring and all that this brings.

Variety is an important consideration. We want to curate an exciting range of vendors for our visitors that is original and different, high quality and stylish. Products might be beautiful or practical, to use or to wear, or even to eat.

We value products that are Australian designed and made, beautifully presented and sustainable. We encourage a range of price points.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

STAGE 1:

All successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified of the outcome in late August.

STAGE 2:

All successful applicants will receive a letter of offer to trade at Floriade Dogs Day Out. Vendors will receive a site map and further information regarding their offer and the allocated site. Vendors will have the opportunity here to accept or decline the offer.

STAGE 3:

Vendors who have accepted their site offer will be issued with a Vendor agreement and a deposit invoice.

Decisions regarding application approvals are at the discretion of Events ACT. There will be no further discussion once a decision is made.
