1. Principle of operation. Shipping by file import allows you to edit your waybills in mass, by integrating a single file (csv, txt, or other of your choice). The file you have to create will contain all the information needed to produce your shipments, mainly the destination address and the characteristics of your parcel / envelope. With this shipping method, you will need to enter the information manually in the chronopost.fr application.

The general principle of operation is as follows: 1. The application searches for files to include (automatically or manually). 2. Application treats the file’s lines one by one. Each line corresponds to a parcel. 3. If the application encounters an error, it rejects the line containing the error, and generates a error file in the predefined directory file,

and then moves to the next line of the file. At the end of the treatment, the application also creates a report file in a predefined directory. 4. The processed file is then deleted from the directory integration.

2. Constraints due to the technical environment.

The shipping process uses Java web technology. You must download the latest version of java and update your computer : http://www.java.com/fr/.

For a better use, it is strongly recommended to use the following browsers: - Firefox. - Google Chrome.

It is strongly disadvised to use Internet Explorer, and particularly Internet Explorer 8. The use of JAVA technology will result in security warnings JAVA as below (these pop-ups take different forms in different browsers and versions of Java). In order to make application work, you must allow the access to the application.

3. Before you start ...

Before launching this mode, you must set your user preferences by going to the menu "my profile to my favorites." In this menu, you can define in detail all the settings for this mode : The directory in which the application should seek to integrate the files. where to drop the error and report files. It is in this screen that you can define these parameters. But you can also define choice by default: Do you want all your shipments to be as "Saturday delivery" by default ? Do you want to notify your recipients by SMS?

4. 2 Modes : Automatic and selective. 4.1 The "automatic" mode.

With the automatic mode, the application scans a directory of your computer (or a remote network directory). When a file in the correct format is filed, the application will integrate it and waybills described in this file will be printed. There is therefore no further manual action to make to edit the waybills. This mode enables a 100% automated labeling: If your business information system is able to create and drop a file in the correct format in the correct directory, the application will integrate these files and labels will be printed automatically, depending on the schedule of the files deposit set by your IT system.

4.2 The "selective" mode . With the selective mode, the application waits for a user to indicate the files to integrate. This mode allows a semi- automatic use : you build your files in advance and specify to the application when it should incorporate them, depending on your business processes.

5 . The file format . The application can integrate four different formats files. These files are described in detail later in this document. - The "standard" format that we recommend to use allows you to select all the features of the chronopost.fr application.

- The "ChronoShip Office" format, which is useful if you were previously using the import function by file on the " ChronoShip Office " tool. - The format simple of " ChronoShip station ", which is useful if you were previously using the import function by file on the " ChronoShip Station " with this format, or if you use Chronopost modules on platforms or on Prestashop Magento . It is also the easiest to generate, if you want to have less fields to specify. - The advanced format of " ChronoShip station " , which will be useful if you were previously using the import function by file on the ChronoShip station with this format. Enclosed you will find a description of each of these file formats, as well as rules for the integration to run easely.

6 . Errors and Reports .

6.1 Errors . It may happen that your files have errors (no street address, postal code incorrectly formatted, the use of a bad contract number, etc. . ) . In this case, only the rows in error will be rejected and the correct lines well integrated and waybills well-generated). An error file will be placed in the directory specified in your profile. This error file will show the line in error and indicate the cause of the anomaly. You only have to change the value in error and import the same file.

6.2 Report When lines are properly integrated and labels correctly generated, a file of integration’s reporting is created and placed in the directory of your choice. The file will contain all the lines properly integrated, adding data: the number of waybill generated, the print date, etc.. These files may possibly be helpful, for example for the integration into your information system. It allows for instance to link your internal references and numbers of packages that have been associated. This report file will also contain messages of warning (a field that has been truncated by the application, a blank email, etc..). These warnings do not block the printing of the label.
