This is the first edition of a monthlybibliography designed to serve educators,librarians, and others interested in mate-rials formulated for use in bilingual bi-cultural education. The DisseminationCenter for Bilingual Bicultural Educationis a newly-funded national project underTitle VII of the EleMentary and SecondaryAct of 1965, as amended.

The intent of this annotated listing isto share with bilingual - bicultural projectsthe information needed to make decisions inrelation to acquisition of relevant mate-rials for use in their programs. Descrip-tions will be for the purpose of informing.Objectively, rather than to recommend ordisparage items included. Selection forannotation is inclusive; that is, we willinclude any materials we receive or aresuggested to us that are relevant. In mostcases, the actual material will be viewed;in a few cases where this is not possible,however, annotations may be included, with asource for further information.

Annotations will normally include thetitle of the material, the author or deve-loping agency, the name and address of thepublisher, publication date, number of pages,price, language(s) of the material, inten-ded audience or level, and a brief descrip-tive statement. Any such information omit-ted was not available at press time, andmay be requested from the publisher.

Tests CE and DE are of General Abilityand oral vocabulary, in which the childresponds to words and phrases dictated bythe examiner. The score on the tests maybe used as a measure or indication of thechild's ability in lallguage. Knowledge ofthe meaning of words is assumed to be neededfor listening, speaking, reading, or writing,and an estimate of the general level at whicha child can be reached is assumed to be help-ful information for teachers. The two testsare similar but not identical. Crosses areplaced over multiple choice pictures as theexaminer pronounces words. Directions foradministering and scoring forms OCR-1 CE/DE,and Instiucciones para la administracidn yvaloracidn for forms COR-1-CEs and COR-1-DEsare included, with a scoring key.Tests CEs and DEs are in Spanish and are com-parable to the English versions CE and DE.These two sets of parallel forms in Englishand Spanish may be used to test the same chil-dren in both languages.
