Disassembly Procedure
Disassembly of the Display unit (X54-349):KCH-141. Remove the volume knob z and selector knob x.2. Remove the 2 hexagon nuts c.3. Remove the cable from the display unit (X54-349 A/3)
connector (CN4), and remove the channel encoder v.4. Remove the 4 screws b holding the speaker.5. Remove the cable from the display unit (X54-349 A/3)
connector (CN2).6. Remove the speaker n and mounting fixture m.7. Remove the 2 screws , holding the display unit (X54-
349 A/3).8. Remove the display unit (X54-349 A/3 ., X54-349 B/3 /).9. Remove the 4 screws Ω holding the sub-panel.10.Remove the sub-panel ≈, keytop ç and cushion √.

Precautions for Reassembly
Procedure when the packing (G53-0838-13) is
removed from the Panel ASSYWhen the packing is removed from panel ASSY, affixnew sheet (G11-4376-04) to the panel ASSY by followingprocedures.
1. Remove the white covering paper from the short side ofthe sheet z.
2. Place the sheet on the edge of the panel ASSY x, thenaffix it to one side of panel ASSY while pulling the rightand left sides of the transparent covering paper to make asmooth contact (with no wrinkles) c.Firmly affix the sheet to the panel ASSY by pushing thedouble-coated tape with your fingers.
3. Remove the white covering paper from the other side ofthe sheet v, then affix it to the other side of panel ASSYb.
Note:Affix it while pulling the right and left sides of thetransparent covering paper to make a smooth contact(with no wrinkles).Firmly affix the sheet to the panel ASSY by pushing thedouble-coated tape with your fingers.
4. Remove the transparent covering paper from the panelASSY n.

speaker packing to the hollow (drain hole part)
of the panel ASSY: KCH-14 onlyPush the convex (drain hole part) of the speaker packingwith a flat-head screwdriver as shown in figure until drainhole of the speaker fit to the drain hole of the panel.

1. Display UnitThe optional display unit (front panel unit) for the TK-
5710(B)/5710H(B) comes in two models : KCH-14 and KCH-15
1-1. KCH-14This display unit consists of the CPU (IC3), 5V AVR (IC1)
and other components.
• EncoderChannels are changed by the rotary encoder (ENC). The
up/down pulses from the rotary encoder enter the CPU(IC3), and converted to a serial data signal, and are sent tothe control unit.
• Power supplyPower is supplied to the CPU by converting SB from the
control unit to 5V by IC1. And SB is supplied to the LED forbacklight.

and the PTT and HOOK signals, are converted to serial dataand sent to the control unit. Data is displayed on the 12-digitand 3-digit dot matrix alphanumeric display.
• LCD brightness functionFrom the control of the CPU’s DM1/DM2 port, you can
switch the LCD/KEY backlight or the optional KMC-28 keybacklight as shown in the following table.
