Program OverviewHistory

SBM ITB is commied to contribung to research based university through a doctoral program in management science. The doctoral program at SBM is to complement the fourth discipline of management to the exisng disciplines at ITB namely engineering, science, and arts. The doctoral program was iniated by Professor Surna Tjahja Djajadiningrat as the Dean of SBM in 2008. The core team of the proposal was composed of Professor Togar Simatupang, Dr. Gatot Yudoko, and Dr. Deddy Koesrindartoto. The doctoral program covers a wide range of management discipline in order to develop and contribute to the body of knowledge of business and management. The research paradigm is not limited to posivism but also interprevism, and cricism. The aim is both to train scholars for careers in research and teaching in business and management as well as to shape the scienfic contribuons

On December 31, 2003, ITB Rector Prof. Kusmayanto Kadiman formally established the School of Business and Management ITB (SBM‐ITB) to administer both the MBA and the Undergraduate Program.

“Leadership with integrity, respect for diversity and heart for humanity is the key values we aim to generate

from your own potentials..”

Academic Process

The curriculum at DSM‐ITB consist of three stages:

The Qualificaon Stage: develop a basic understanding of the philosophy of

management science, research methodologies supported by the relevant stascal

soware, research ‐ based competency and literature review, research queson

formulaon, wring scienfic papers and formulang research proposals.

The Research Stage: design the research, develop teh research methodology, collect

and analyze the data , and write the dissertaon.

Promoon Stage: sharpen the student’s knowledge of exisng research and its

academic contribuon, as well as the student’s ability to defend his or her

dissertaon in the oral exam.

Management Science implements various disciplines in which it explains the concept

of managing resources (people, method, machine, and money) to achieve the

expected organizaon goals. Consequently, DSM‐ITB is addressed to not only those

who have a management or economic background, but also those who have the

desire to develop and implement management science in their professional

endeavors.

DSM‐ITB is a Linear Doctoral Program of the Undergraduate Program, the Graduate

Program in Management Science. However, DSM‐ITB will also accept students from

other social sciences as well as from engineering and other disciplines (this is called the

Non‐Linear Doctoral Program. Therefore, the following categories will apply at DSM‐

ITB:

Those who hold a master degree in Management Science Instut Teknologi

Bandung (MSM ITB) will follow the Linear Doctoral Program

Those who hold a master degree in non‐management science will follow the Non‐

Linear Doctoral Program

DSM‐ITB is a 3‐year program comprising 6 semesters with 44 credit‐hours for the Non‐

Linear Doctoral Program, and 40 credit‐hours for the Linear Doctoral Program.

Principal aspects of the company, if not all, such as network, acvity systems, markeng, and distribuon must be refined; It is the business model that must be innovated. For me, studying the innovaon and the dynamic changes of the business model is very noteworthy. At the School of Business ITB, I have found a nurturing atmosphere that helps me thrive, not only academically, but also personally. Upon compleon of the doctoral degree, i wish to expend the knowledge of business model area and make contribuon to the science of management”.
