Outline• This presentation introduces the Japanese regulation
that specifies the channel bandwidth for 5GHz band WLANs, and suggests a requirement for 802.11n devices.
• Many Japanese companies support the conclusion of this presentation:– Company 1
– Company 2

Regulations Related with Channel Bandwidth
• Radio Law Enforcement Regulations:– Article 6: Used Frequency (5.170, 5.190, 5.210, 5.230 MHz)
• Radio Equipment Ordinance: – Article 6:
• Occupied channel bandwidth allowance: <= 18MHz
– Article 49-20:• Adjacent channel leakage power
• Out of band radiated power

Conclusion
• Summary of Japanese Frequency Regulation: – Only 20MHz operation is allowed in current
Japanese radio regulations for 5GHz band wireless LANs.
• Suggestion for TGn:– Operations using more than 20MHz bandwidth
should not be mandatory for 802.11n devices.
