Draft Indian Standard
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS FOR ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT FOR MEASUREMENT, CONTROL AND LABORATORY USE –
PART 1 : GENERAL REQUIREMENTS Last date for receipt of comments is 25-11-2013 Measuring Equipment for Basic Electrical Quantities Sectional Committee, ET 12 NATIONAL FOREWORD This Indian Standard (First Revision) which is identical with IEC 61010-1 (2010) Ed. 3.0 ‘Safety Requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control, and laboratory use ― Part 1 General requirements’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) would be adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendations of the Measuring Equipment for Basic Electrical Quantities Sectional Committee, ET 12 and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council. This standard was first published in 1979, which was based on IEC Pub 60414. IEC Pub 60414 has since been replaced by IEC 61010-1. Therefore this revision has been undertaken to bring it in line with International Practices. The text of IEC Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following: a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear, referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’. b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker. In this adopted standard, reference appears to certain International Standards for which Indian Standards also exist. The corresponding Indian Standards which are to be substituted in their places are listed below along with their degree of equivalence for the editions indicated:
