INTRODUCTIONKaami Arts Organization was founded in January 2013, by artists spanned in different fields of art (in Music, Dance, Theater, Painting, cinema and photography), who joined hands to enlighten the skills, the knowledge and the love of art to the people while using it as a channel for social change. We are particularly child driven.

Kaami Arts has been specifically working with vulnerable children (street children, children with special needs, HIV/AIDS positive children etc) through theater performances, holiday workshops, debates and art events.

Convinced that Arts is a force for individual and social change, KAAMI Arts makes good use of it to stimulate expression, creativity, problem solving, positive thinking and confidence among children. We as well sensitize the community about children issues.

We now know and understand art can express and shape who WE ARE, who WE WANT TO BE; we initiate art to children from an early age, so that art can be introduced, learnt, produced and distributed. We also use arts as a channel for social change.

Trainings: children learn to do arts and are encouraged to keep it going. They could become professional artists or gain skills to help them in daily life.

Masterpieces of arts: (theatre plays, films, paintings, books, photo galleries: This is an expression, a thought and a feeling shared, a life performed, a value and heritage transmitted. It is an edu-entertainement for the consumers of the pieces of arts as well.

Debates: A piece of art raises the questioning of mind. They also catalyze debates and discussions on different themes or issues. Thus, this results in behavior change.

Areas of work: Art and Education, Art and Peace, Art and Health as well as Art and Child Protection.

THE PROBLEM AND THE SOLUTIONAs much as kaami arts puts an effort in making art accessible to children, we face a big challenge. There is no space to showcase and/or consume and enjoy the art in Kigali.In line with its vision of a World where Arts are developed and contribute in creating a peaceful society and where children live a better today and are confident in tomorrow, Kaami arts has a creative idea of building the first ever art center for children in Rwanda.OBJECTIVES

i. To promote and foster development and well-being of childrenii. To set an affordable platform (entertainment, education and socio-cultural

exchange) for children, youth and familiesiii. To nurture from childhood the culture of reading, humanity, friendship and

peace building on one hand, on the other hand familiarize parents to make their children consume arts as another way of their cognitive, socio-cultural development and well-being.

OUR STRATEGY

As a bright idea never comes alone, kaami arts is working on a campaign to raise money called ONE COIN, 1000 SMILES. The idea behind this campaign is to ask the community to give only one coin ( 100 rwf ≈ 0,12 usd ) and interest many people as we can. As the center will be for every child and family in Rwanda, we would like to encourage the population to donate to the project by setting an affordable amount for any Rwandan to help.Other potential donors: NGOs, companies, government, private institutions, individuals etc.Dissemination channels: Shows, Adverts/Jingle, Talk Shows, through events –concerts, Supermarkets, Hotels, Schools, Media (Online, TV, Radios Newspapers),

posters, banners, brochures, word of mouth & door to door, T-shirts, wrist bracelet, caps, stickers on (cars, doors, computers...)
