Do I need love, and should I give love in return?

Jesus answered... Matthew 22:36-40

Master, which is the greatest commandment. Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God will all thy heart, and will all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thy as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Eros kind of love....

Eros means romantic love in which the word erotic come from.  It's the  chemical reaction that happens between two people.  It's the spark that happens to people.  It's the blushing of the face.  It's infatuation between people.  It's puppy love. It's the most common type of love that we can associate.  When you see a couple holding hands or kissing and people say,

"Yes, they are in love."  This type of love is called Eros.

Phileo kind of love...

The Greeks also has a second definition of love, and that is Philia in which the word the philanthropy come from.  Philia means brotherly love.  We all know city of Philadelphia as the city of brotherly love. Philia does not contain romantic love.  Philia is the love you and I express to our father, mother, brother, sister, or a friend.

People say, "I love my brother to death". Well, this type of love is Philia love.

Agape kind of love...

Agapao, means “Agapa/e” (Usually pronounced ah-guh-pay.)

A state of unconditional love for everything. This is considered the ultimate goal of all sentient evolution. it is different from erotic love. It is supposed to be the characteristic attitude of Christians toward one another. It means loving someone without expecting love in return.  Parents can relate to this, especially a mother.  Perhaps this may be a difficult concept in today's selfish society because this type of love requires sacrifice and selflessness.

1st Corinthians 12:12-26..... (lets read together).

We can conclude, we all need each other Common errors Christians make

Being too proud of their abilities Thinking they have nothing to give to the body of

believers. Instead of comparing ourselves to one another, we must use our different gifts, together, to spread the Good News of salvation

Give what you need in return Love like you want to be loved in return Care like you want to be cared for in return Do unto others as you would want them to do

for you.

How do I love others, and not lose myself?
