Estimados Feligreses,

Hoy celebramos el domingo de Corpus Christi, y no, no estamos hablando de un pueblo de playa.

Corpus Christi es el término latino para Cuerpo (Corpus) de Cristo (Christi). La Eucaristía es el centro

absoluto de nuestra fe y es la razón por la que nos reunimos todos los domingos para estar unidos con

Dios en la Eucaristía. Con este fin, creo que la historia del mártir chino Little Li ayuda a poner las cosas en

perspectiva.

La pequeña Li había recibido recientemente su Primera Comunión y todos los días iba a Misa y

Comunión. En su Primera Comunión oró: "Jesús, permíteme recibirte siempre, que eres mi pan de cada

día". Poco después de su primera comunión, soldados revolucionarios llegaron a su aldea mientras ella

estaba en la escuela dominical, destrozaron la iglesia, destruyeron el tabernáculo, arrojaron las hostias al

suelo y pusieron al sacerdote bajo arresto domiciliario. Los soldados se quedaron en la ciudad y se

aseguraron de que la gente no pudiera organizarse ni reunirse. Sin embargo, todas las noches, el

sacerdote veía a la pequeña Li desde su casa mientras se colaba en la iglesia para rezar y consumir una

de las hostias que aún estaban en el suelo. Esto sucedió durante 31 días consecutivos. La noche 32, justo

cuando estaba a punto de consumir la última hostia, un soldado la descubrió en la iglesia y le disparó.

Baleada y herida de muerte, su único pensamiento era recibir a Jesús, por lo que consumió la última

hostia, que se convirtió en Viático (recibir la Sagrada Comunión por última vez) y murió. Al ver esto, el

soldado se convirtió, abrió la casa donde estaba preso el sacerdote y lo dejó ir en libertad.

Esta verdadera historia de Little Li me hace reconsiderar cuán devoto soy al Santísimo Sacramento. ¿Cuán

atento estoy cuando recibo la Sagrada Comunión? ¿Doy por sentado la recepción del Cuerpo de Cristo?

¿Me preparo bien para recibir la Sagrada Comunión? ¿Arriesgaría todo para recibir el Cuerpo de Cristo?

Creo que es triste decir que la mayoría de nosotros diríamos "no". Tal vez no querer confesarnos nos

impide recibir el Cuerpo de Cristo, o tal vez ni siquiera sentirnos dignos, pero Jesús dice: "Este es mi

Cuerpo, esta es mi Sangre, entregada por ti", así que deberíamos recibirlo dignamente. El más precioso

de todos los dones y no permitan que nada nos separe de estar unidos con Jesús en la Sagrada

Comunión.

Recibir a Jesús en la Sagrada Comunión es el centro de nuestra semana, el centro de la Misa y el centro

de nuestras vidas. Debido a que la Misa y la Sagrada Comunión son el centro de nuestras vidas, estamos

creando grandes oportunidades para aquellos que se preparan para recibir los sacramentos (tanto la

Sagrada Comunión como la Confirmación) para ir a Misa juntos como familias en el año nuevo de CCD y

luego ir a clase juntos. Tanto los niños como los padres recibirán formación y preparación juntos.

Queremos darles a las familias el don de ir juntas a Misa, no solo en familia, sino también en clase, y

luego recibir formación juntos los domingos para la preparación sacramental. Los grados 3-9 de CCD

vendrán los miércoles, y de nuevo, el enfoque está en recibir el Cuerpo de Cristo en la Misa a las 6 PM.

Rezo para que todos nos tomemos el tiempo para revisar nuestra mayor prioridad en la vida, que es la

recepción de la Sagrada Comunión semanalmente y, si es posible, diariamente, y agradezco a Dios que

no tengo que arriesgar mi vida para recibirlo, al igual que Little Li. Cuán bendecidos somos en verdad.

Dear Parishioners,

Today we celebrate Corpus Christi Sunday, and no we are not talking about a beach town. Corpus

Christi is the Latin term for Body (Corpus) of Christ (Christi). The Eucharist is the absolute center of

our faith and is the reason why we gather every Sunday - to be united with God in the Eucharist. To

this end I think the story of the Chinese martyr Little Li helps put things into perspective.

Little Li had recently received her First Communion and daily went to Mass and Communion. At her

First Communion she prayed, "Jesus, allow me to always receive you who are my daily bread." Soon

after her first communion, revolutionary soldiers came into her village while she was in Sunday

school, vandalized the church, destroyed the tabernacle, threw the hosts on the floor, and put the

priest under house arrest. The soldiers stayed in the town and made sure people could not organize

or meet. However, every night the priest saw Little Li from his house as she snuck into the church to

pray and consume one of the hosts that still lay on the floor. This happened for 31 consecutive days.

On the 32nd night, just as she was about to consume the last host, a soldier discovered her in the

church and shot her. Being shot and mortally wounded, her only thought was to receive Jesus, and

so she consumed the last host, which became Viaticum (receiving Holy Communion for the last time)

and died. Upon seeing this the soldier was converted, opened the house where the priest was

imprisoned, and let him go free.

This true story of Little Li makes me reconsider how devoted I am to the Blessed Sacrament. How

attentive am I when I receive Holy Communion? Do I take receiving the Body of Christ for granted?

Do I prepare well for receiving Holy Communion? Would I risk everything in order to receive the

Body of Christ? I think it is sad to say that most of us would say "no." Maybe not wanting to go to

confession keeps us from receiving the Body of Christ, or maybe even not feeling worthy, but Jesus

says, "This is my Body, this is my Blood, given up for you," so we should worthily receive this most

precious of all gifts and allow nothing to separate us from being united with Jesus in Holy

Communion.

Receiving Jesus in Holy Communion is the center of our week, the center of the Mass, and the center

of our lives. Because Mass and Holy Communion is the center of our lives we are creating great

opportunities for those preparing to receive the sacraments (both Holy Communion and

Confirmation) to go to Mass together as families in the new CCD year and then go to class together.

Both children and parents will receive formation and preparation together. We want to give families

the gift of going to Mass together, not only as a family, but also as a class, and then receive

formation together on Sundays for sacramental preparation. CCD grades 3-9 will come to CCD on

Wednesdays, and again, the focus is on receiving the Body of Christ at Mass at 6 PM.

I pray that we all take time to revisit our greatest priority in life, which is the reception of Holy

Communion on a weekly and, if possible, daily basis, and I thank God that I don't have to risk my life

to receive Him, as did Little Li. How blessed we are indeed.

Hace dos domingos vivimos la gran

fiesta de Pentecostés, fiesta del Espíritu

Santo, tercera persona de la santísima

trinidad, quien nos guía a cada uno de

nosotros y a la iglesia. Dejarse guiar

por Él no es muy fácil en medio de esta

sociedad en la que vivimos pues nos

distrae con tantas cosas existentes y

nuevas que van surgiendo, queriendo

llenar el vació en nuestra alma que no

podrán porque solo pertenece a Dios

como en mi caso. Soy Silvestre Mauricio Santiago

Guerrero nací en un pueblo llamado Santa María la

Palma/Alfajayucan/ Hidalgo México. hijo doceavo de

+ Alberto Santiago Badillo y Catalina Guerrero

Bautista. Emigre a esta país en 1999 a los 17 años

llegando al estado de Kentucky debido a los trabajos

temporales emigraba de un estado a otro al mismo

tiempo queriendo llenar los vacíos ya mencionados,

tanto aquí como en México de una manera

equivocada, En 2010 ya estando aquí en Texas asistí

a un retiro de evangelización por primera vez me

deje encontrar por Cristo, pude experimentar una

experiencia inexplicable pues nunca antes practicaba

mi fe para nada, comienza mi proceso de sanación,

conversión y servicio hasta el día de hoy.

Actualmente intentando ser obediente al Espíritu

Santo me encuentro sirviendo en los ministerios de

nuestra parroquia como lector, platicas

Pre-Bautismales y algunas veces acogimiento. Y

ahora me encuentro en este llamado al

discernimiento para el Diaconado en cual con mucho

amor pido des sus oraciones y junto con las mías

podre discernir si este es mi llamado y de ser o no

ser así por alguna circunstancia, seguir sirviendo con

mucha alegría y amor como hasta el día de hoy. Y

que el Espíritu Santo siga guiando nuestros pasos.

two Sundays ago we lived the great

feast of Pentecost, feast of the Holy

Spirit, third person of the most holy

trinity, who guides each one of us and

the church. Letting yourself be guided

by Him is not very easy in the midst of

this society in which we live because it

distracts us with so many existing and

new things that are emerging, wanting

to fill the void in our soul that they will

not be able to because it only belongs

to God as in my case. I am Silvestre Mauricio

Santiago Guerrero. I was born in a town called Santa

María la Palma/Alfajayucan/Hidalgo Mexico. Twelfth

son of +Alberto Santiago Badillo and Catalina

Guerrero Bautista. I emigrated to this country in

1999 at the age of 17, arriving in the state of

Kentucky. Due to temporary jobs I emigrated from

one state to another at the same time wanting to fill

the aforementioned gaps, both here and in Mexico

in the wrong way. In 2010 already being here in

Texas, I attended an evangelization retreat for the

first time. I let myself be found by Christ. I was able

to experience an inexplicable experience because I

never did practice my faith before, my process of

healing, conversion and service began until today.

Currently trying to be obedient to the Holy Spirit I

find myself serving in the ministries of our parish as

a Lector, Pre-Baptismal Class Instructor and

sometimes Welcoming. And now I find myself in this

call to discernment for the Diaconate in which with

much love I ask for your prayers and together with

mine I will be able to discern if this is my call and

whether or not it is so for some circumstance,

continue serving with great joy and love until today.

And may the Holy Spirit continue to guide our steps.
