According to Document One, Christopher Columbus was initially searching for a new way to Asia. However, he ended up in the Americas.

According to Document One, the time period where Europeans explored the Atlantic Ocean in order to find a new route to Asia was called the "Age of Discovery".

He mistakenly thought he was in India and therefore called the Native Americans "Indians".

Based on Document Three, the Columbian Exchange negatively impacted the New World. Europeans brought diseases, like measles and smallpox, that killed 50-90% of natives.

Europeans brought African slaves to the New World because they tried to enslave Native Americans but the natives were vulnerable to European diseases and Africans were not (Document Three).
