POINT OF VIEW
The point of view is the vantage point, or way of thinking about something, of the story’s narrator. Each point of view has pros and cons Three Types of Point of View:

Main character tells the story using the pronoun ‘I’. Pro: gives the reader a sense of hearing from an eye witness directlyCon: narrator can’t reveal everything, such as the thoughts of other characters
2nd Person Point of View
Narrator uses words like “You,” “Yours,” “Yourself”
Narrator is often talking to themselves
VERY RARE!
3rd Person Point of View
Narrator uses words like “He,” “She” and “They”
Two Types:
Third person omniscient
Third person limited
3rd Person Omniscient
Narrator is God-like; can describe the thoughts and feelings of ALL characters
Pro: narrator knows all
Con: often makes the reader feel removed from the characters and action
3rd Person Limited
Narrator can see into only ONE character’s mind Pro: easy for reader to identify with main characterCon: narrator may have trouble making minor characters seem real
