Chapter 9 ~ “A Free People”
Chapter 9 ~ Lesson 1
The Israelites were overjoyed that God had saved them from slavery.
They began their long journey to Canaan, the promised land.
Moses led his people to Mount Sinai. The people sometimes felt that God asked the impossible of them, but they realized the wisdom of God’s plan for them.
The Israelites did not always follow God’s will. Even though they doubted him, he still watched over them and even performed miracles.
Chapter 9 ~ Lesson 1
A miracle is an extraordinary event that is beyond human power and brought about by God.
God performed many miracles to prove he loved the Israelites. When they were hungry God sent manna.
Manna is a sweet food that tastes like honey that fell from the desert shrubs. God also sent water from a rock when they were thirsty.
Chapter 9 ~ Lesson 1
Concept: What challenges did God’s people face in the wilderness?
Explain how God showed that he cared for his “chosen people.”
