pronounced (qua-she-a-kor).• Kwashiorkor is from the Ga language of coastal Ghana and

translated means “the sickness the baby gets when the new baby comes.”

•Proteins are made of amino acids.• There are many different proteins in

our body and they have different functions.• The order of amino acids determines

the type of protein and its function.
