Do Now

• The cultural landscape is marked by religion- most

obviously by churches and mosques, cemeteries

and shrines statues and symbols.

• There are other, more subtle markers too, such as

the presence or absence of stores selling alcohol

• Also, religion is proclaimed through modes of

dress, and personal habits.

• The Islamic Republic of Pakistan in 1991

proclaimed that the growing of a beard would be a

sign of the appointment of judges.

interaction can sometimes lead to conversion.
