DPC Role: REMIS is a key component of the Air Force Depot Maintenance System, ultimately to be absorbed into the Expeditionary Combat Support System program. The purpose of the system is to enhance front-end design of new weapon systems and increase the readiness and sustainabilityof existing systems by improving the availability, accuracy, and of essential equipment information. REMIS provides the capability to collect, edit, validate, process, store, and report R&M data on Aerospace Vehicles, Trainers, ATE,Support Equipment, and Communications-Electronics equipment in the following functional areas: Equipment Maintenance, Time Compliance Technical Order (TCTO), Time Change Inspection (TCI), Inventory, Status, and Utilization. REMIS functionality is split across itssubsystems, including Equipment Inventory, Multiple Status, and Utilization Reporting Subsystem; Product Performance Subsystem; Generic Status Accounting Subsystem; and Multi-Service Interface Agent. Original REMIS applications consist of 3.1 million lines of source code writtenin COBOL85 and SCOBOL using a SQL MP database running in an HP S-series NonStop Guardian environment. Most new and some migratedapplications are integrated with the GCSS-AF Integration Framework using Java and C++ software accessing an Oracle 9i database in a Solaris environment. Other applications use stored procedures written in Java with Oracle 9i in a LINUX environment. Cognos ReportNet is used to generate end user standard reports. NGIT sustains and upgrades REMIS for MSG. As such, they have primary responsibility for analysis, design, development, test, integration, and maintenance activities.
