About Princeton in Africa• Our Mission:
– To develop young leaders committed to Africa’s advancement.
• What We Do to Achieve It:– We match bright, talented, recent college
graduates – passionate about Africa and committed to service – with organizations doing meaningful work across the continent for yearlong fellowships.
Princeton in Africa’s Growth• Founded in 1999 by Princeton alums
– That summer, 2 Fellows worked with the Int’l Rescue Committee in Rwanda
• Since then, we have placed more than 300 Fellows in 34 countries with 50+ partner organizations
• Rigorous selection process today– Last year 420 applications, ~11% selected– Now open to graduates from colleges &
universities across the United States– Program offered on a need-blind basis

corporations & foundations (e.g. Johnson & Johnson, Bristol-Myers Squibb)
• PLUS additional support from many partner organizations for Fellows ($ given through PiAf and $ / in-kind directly to Fellows) & in-kind from Princeton (free office space!)
PiAf has simultaneously challenged me to make a difference
here and now in Botswana… and also created in me a lifelong
advocate and activist for the people of Africa
and all those who are disempowered and vulnerable
throughout the world.
