Howdy Cuzzins,The big "Soup Spectacular"
(formerly known as "The Chili Cook-Off") was held on Sunday March 6,2016 and it has come and gone.If you were there you know it wasgreat event. If you weren't thereyou missed out on a good time.The Soup was great, the dessertswere great, as was all the goodies.
Most importantly we initiated 4new Hillbilly Men and 3 newHillbilly Gals into the Clan. Theyare Tom Mohr, Rod Wilhelm,Howard Shirling and Jim "Frisky theClown" Knott, the ladies wereCindy Mohr, Ellen Wilhelm andJudy Shirling. Let us hope thatthey all become active, climb thehighest hills and share in theenlightenment and the hospitalityof the members of The Grand andGlorious Order of the HillbillyDegree.
The second important thing wasthe winners of the Contest, 1stPlace went to Cuzzin Carol Trehan,
2nd Place to Cuzzin Ellen Wilhelmand 3rd Place to Cuzzin KayWinnie, who was our very first"Possum Queen".
In my book everyone whoentered the contest deserved 1stPlace, but alas only one could win.Congratulations to all the newmembers and the winners, but thebig winners were "The Shrine Kids"as we cleared around $600.00and that ain't bad for a freeshindig.......

“Soup Spectacular” HeldLas Vegas Zelzah Shrine, Clan
47 still movin and meeting its goal.Howdy cuzzins and non-cuzzins.
Ma tells me I ain't hollard at ya fur abit, so guess it's time to do that andtell ya bout the Vegas Countrydoin's. Well, in 2015, a good yearfur us, 26 total ma's and pa's climbdem hills and "Honored The Cob".So fur in 2016, we had 2gatherings. One a Valentine's Daydedication in Feb and another inApril. We had 13 new Cuzzinsacquiring the symbolic hillbilly hatone being our 2016 Potenate, Ill Sir"Cuz" Dan Erickson.
In Sept 2015 we assisted LosAngeles' Al Malaikah Shrine's Clan69 in a 40 Guy and about 20 GalDegree held at the San FranandoMasonic Lodge. I was going to onlywatch but they put me to work asthe ROC.
A week later we assisted theBallut Abyad Shrine, Albuquerque,NM in a degree in efforts toreinstate their charter. A degree washeld at a rock quarry in Kingman,AZ. Nobles from Albuquerque andZelzah "Honored the Cob" and wethank Ill Sir Chris Hagenian of ElZaribah Shine in Phoenix, AZ toallow us to cross jurisdictional lines.
I have a goal of $1000.00 a yearto our Zelzah's HospitalTransportation Fund. That was metin 2015 and we "r" half-way therealready in 2016. So fur, since it'sbeginning, Clan 47 has given $22,385.
We are getting more Flatlandnobles interested in the hillbilliesand found some who play musicalinstruments. I lookin to have aHillbilly band before its over. Webeen in two parades with the
Hillbilly trailer/float and its seems tobe workin. Besides our PossumQueen some mommas haveexpressed the desire to ride. I thankour Clown Unit fur use of the trailer.They bring the clown cars to theparade and once they are takenoff....we convert the trailer to ahillbilly float. Best part it's alreadyhooked-up to a truck for pullin.
In January this year I foundmyself on the big ship lolly-pop withClan 24 takin the 2016 HillbillyCruise to the Caribbean. If yahaven't gone you need to go. Ithank Cruise Director Cuz TerryChristie and his staff fur a greattime and the opportunity toparticipate in the Hillbilly Degree atSea. Be sure to look fur the 2017cruise flyers.
From the Hillbilly cruise and AlMakaikah events Clan 47 acquired13 dual members. Any member ofthe Grand and Glorious Order ofthe Hillbillies desiring dualmembership in Zelzah's Clan 47contact me.
Now a sad note: On Jan 5, 2016,at the age of 94, Robet EugentPritchett "Cuz " "Bob" passed away."Cuz" Bob was a charter member ofthe Hillbillies Clan 47, held theposition as ROC fur 5 years andsailed the caribbean several timeson the Hillbilly cruise. At time ofpassing be was Historian" forZelzah ShrineTemple In Las Vegas.RIP my Brother.
Those Cuzzins coming to LasVegas..give a call maybe we canget together.

The HEJAZ FAMILY DAY appearedto be a big success. With theHillbillies, (TW & ROY) giving ridesto the kids and the big at heartsalike, smiles were everywhere.From the kids riding on the ferriswheel, eating cotton candy,
popcorn and ice cream. Thegrown-ups seek the shade of thepicnic shelter, and swap tales toeach other. The food was great!Hamburgers, hotdogs, with chili,corn on the cob, cantaloupe, slicedwatermelon, wheew!! What a day!!!
