    A SPIRIT GIVES MESOUL RETRIEVA

ne of my daughter's classmates visited us at our house.

He gave me a book his mother wrote, saying, "My mom

is strange like you. I think you'll like her book." I said thanks and

took the book. The boy was not memorable, of average height

and looks. I don't remember much about him. My daughter said

he was not a particularly close friend. That was the one and

only time he visited our house.

The book was Gifts for the Soul by Dawn E. Clark. The

book was about how spirits led Dawn to Soul Retrieval a

technique of going into the past to bring home your lost soul.

Dawn began the book with a moving account of her

communication with her father after his death. The most

interesting part to me was the evidence for Dawns belief that

her father had actually reincarnated as her son.

So...in a way, Dawn's father came to me in the body of his

grandson to give me Soul Retrieval. I know, I know, this sounds

    very fishy.

After reading it, I realized Soul Retrieval is something I had

been doing without knowing that it had a name. Dawn had

developed a method for retrieving lost soul fragments using

what she callssoul images, which are different images that you

draw on a piece of paper, look at, and rotate, and so on. I tried

her method but it didn't resonate with me. I felt as if this was

her method of doing soul retrieval, so I didnt actually follow it.

With her method as a baseline, I devised my own way that

worked for me. DIY, my way!

The night I finished the book, I was pretty excited to try it

out. Synchronistically, many traumas had arisen for Otis. I

called him in and I put Otis into deep meditation. He started to

see images of a past life. We recovered one soul fragment, then

another, then another and another. The defining moment was

when he said, "I see someone, his name is..."

Otis and I said the name "Philippe" at the same time! Okay,

this is strange. You don't have to believe me. But the truth was

clear to me and now I present the truth of soul retrieval to you.

"May you walk a blessed path as you fill

your life with love and light."

    INTRODUCTION

    very time you encounter trauma

whether in this life or a previous lifetime

a bit of your soul goes into shock and proceeds

to chip off and hide. This bit of lost soul

becomes stuck in your psyche, replaying this

trauma over and over. For all of eternity, the

soul bit relives the scene until it is one day

retrieved and reintegrated into the whole.

As an integral part of your souls journey,

you voluntarily experienced the trauma in order

to gain greater wisdom and compassion. Before

the trauma occurred, you might have been

more innocent, happier, or more vital. The

process of gaining wisdom wore down your

innocence, happiness, and vitality. You're wiser

at the expense of your innocence. In other

words, you've lost a part of your soul.

If youve lost a bit of your soul in the past,

you are incomplete. You're like a car that

doesnt function at maximum capacity because

youre missing some parts. Try driving

sometime without a battery or radiator! The

same applies to the missing piece of your soul

you need to get it back.

S he general idea behind NLP is that each oyour memories has a specific home in you

brain. When you retrieve a particular memory

your eyes go to a particular place to access it.

    TRY IT NOW!

Think back to a childhood memory of you

mother; notice where your eyeballs are pointing

Now think of an embarrassing memory from you

adolescence; notice where your eyeballs ar

pointing now. Two different locations! Ever

    memory has it own place!

NLP is the process of changing a memory b

relocating it. So you can either shift a ba

memory to a new location or replace it by putting

a new memory in its place!

I'm no NLP expert, so I will not go further o

this. Suffice to say, when we retrieve the lost sou

bit we are in effect replacing where that lost sou

bit lives in our brain. Simple and brilliant! You'r

not stuck in one point-of-view; you have th

benefit of many angles of understanding.

    e call our thinking a process a train o

thought because it just goes on and on

one thought after another without stopping

Memory is on a circular loop; it goes on and on

and then it goes back on itself and repeats

eternally. It doesn't even change in form o

content; it simply replays itself over and ove

again. Thats why if you have a bad memory and

don't deal with it, it just comes back to haunt you

over and over again with exactly the same

details, emotional content, feel, smell, and look.

This is why in soul retrieval we freeze the

scene into a 3D holographic still image. The

memory loop can only stay in tact while the

memory has not been fully examined. In sou

retrieval, weI effectively end the memory loop in

    one fell swoop.

SWhen you feel you're ready to deal with it, you

can start to play the scene in slo-motion let i

move forward slowly, one frame at a time. You

can roll it back and forth go forward and

backwards. I was a video editor and I've often

done this to analyze a scene. This technique

helps me become aware that this scene is unde

my control. This is one of the chief benefits o

soul retrieval taking a memory where you fel

helpless and bringing it back into your control.

As a filmmaker, I've always understood tha

although the script, the direction, the acting, the

production, the music, and the art, all play a

major role in shaping a film, a film is really made

by the editor in the editing room. When you live

an incident in your life, it's like a film being shot

However, the final say is still in your hands when

you edit it in the editing room of your mind.

She or he could be anywhere in th

he is moving and not frozen. The los

soul bit is in the scene but not part o

the scene. Usually the soul bit is hiding

This is the easy part. There is no action to take

nor things to remember. It's done. You'v

retrieved your lost soul. Now, trust the process

and move on to living life. There is no need t

check up on the effectiveness of the work. Indee

you will find yourself doing things differently

Sometimes immediately and sometimes it migh

take a while. Be patient; trust the process.

Once integrated, the lost soul bit will rarely spl

apart from you. You will live as a whole. But if

situation occurs that is very much like th

traumatic past and you do not react in favor o

yourself, the lost soul bit that you've retrieved wi

emerge again, caution you, and give you advice

This is actually a big benefit of the work. Onc

you've learned to deal with the past in new

positive light, the soul bit will not be separate

scene presents itself: In a classroom

during my childhood in Hong Kong, a littl

girl stood with her head hung low. I recognize th

little girl as myself in second grade. I'm bein

punished for "talking too much" in class. Th

    inspirational speaker, performer, heale

their hands, swooning over the material I'm

presenting. She's changing the audiences lives leading people to a higher place, to a better day.

Jenny takes her attention away from he

adoring fans for a moment to look behind a sma

fold in the curtain. There I am, my today-sel

squatting, looking up at my future-self with m

jaw hanging open, eyes wild with admiration.

I will never forget how my future-self smile

at me, bringing me on stage and introducing m

to the audience. "This is me! Only a few year

back!" She looks me in the eye, "Keep doing wha

you're doing! You're on the right track. Don't giv

up! I need you to be fully you, to sail forwar

without fear, to reach for the highest goals, s

I survey the audience. I see who they are.

examine the stage, I see the decorations and th

equipment. I closely observe Miss Fabio Jenn

    Funkmeyer: I see her clothes and her hairdo;

examine how she stands and how she talks. I tak

note of her confidence, which I lack. I see that sh

knows she has something amazing to offe

whereas I'm not so sure I actually know what I'm

    doing.

I ask for her advice, "Do you think I should g

to England this summer?" She says withou

hesitation, "Absolutely!" Hmm....I think to mysel

    absolutely, huh?....

We continue back and forth, as I ask all kind

of questions and she gives me unconditional lov

    and encouragement.

n meditation, your mind is in an expanded

state. Insights and images come to you. You

might think to yourself, "Am I making this up?"

The answer is not an easy one; its both yes and

no. Yes, it's all in your imagination; every

thought that ever comes to you is in your

    imagination.

But there is something indeed magical in how

certain thoughts, sounds, and images come by

themselves almost as if they have lives of their

own. Each of us has a higher self that supplies

information through our imagination. There is

nothing wrong with that. Your imagination is

you. The gut feeling is you. The strange little

scenario that comes out of the void is you.

here is no such thing as a "correct image,"

and you don't have to get it "right". The

images that come from out of nowhere are

from the land of your juicy mind! Run wild!

So what if the teacher in my example was

actually justified in punishing me because I was

a wild child? I felt and still feel the

consequences of being belittled. That's reason

enough for me to go back into my memories

and remake my past. This is my life and these

are my images. I can cry at my own party if I

want to or I can kick some butts!

So what if I was never a man murdered on

a country road by a homeless man? Look at this

as a treat from your higher self to you like a

nice movie complete with free popcorn! Why

not simply have fun? Enjoy the story and have

some imaginary popcorn too. Go heavy on the

butter and sprinkle amply with sugar or salt to

your heart's delight. You might be surprised!

As for my future-self, Miss Fabio Jenny

Funkmeyer, the jury is still out. Whos to say

    whether Im right or wrong?

hat I can tell you from my own

    experience with soul retrieval is:

Slowly but surely I gain a certain trust in myself.

I care less what others say. I stand up for my

rights. I love my shadow, ugly, fat, unkind self. I

accept my dark side with grace.

This technique is not about achieving success in

one session. It's about a slow process of

regaining trust in yourself, re-imagining your

past and creating the future of your dreams.

EN very emotion, every fear, every sadness,

every anger has an emotional link to the

past. As I mentally reassess the past and

imagine a better outcome, my life gets better

and better. I can handle my life in a more

    reasonable manner, with more composure.

That you create the future from the present is

easy to grasp. But how can your outlook about

your future create your present? In a way, your

desire for the future is drawing you to it.

Do you know that you create the past in the

present as well? Cause and effect are two sides

of the same coin. The past is not set in stone

you can recast the past in any way you like.

I recommend practicing Soul Retrieval on a

regular basis. Whenever you feel fear or sense

that something is bothering you, give yourself

time to really feel the emotion. I make DIY SoulRetrieval a part of my daily life.
