A special Lakshmi Puja was performed at the GVK Corporate Office, Hyderabad to mark the Diwali celebrations. The office was beautifully lit and decorated with fresh flowers. Our Founder Chairman and MD Dr GVK Reddy led the traditional ceremony along with Vice Chairman Mr G V Sanjay Reddy. Other senior executives present on the occasion included Director & Chief Financial Officer Mr A Issac George, Director & CEO-Projects Mr P V Prasanna Reddy, Vice President - Materials Mr R Raghunath, Head-HR Operations Mr Divakar, Sr Vice President-HR Mr G Niranjan Reddy and Vice President-IT Mr Srinivas Sagi. All the employees participated in the puja ceremony and enjoyed the festivities.

In line with its commitment towards operational excellence and safety, BIAL has planned for the upgradation of its runway. Two Rapid Exit Taxiways will be added as a capacity enhancement measure. The upgradation work will be carried out in a phased manner in certain parts, involving closure of the runway, and in other parts, partial closure of facilities without any impact on the airport operations. The second runway will be ready for operations by September, 2019.

GVK CSIA becomes the only airport in India to handle four Code - F flights
On Diwali, Germany’s flagship carrier, Lufthansa operated the jumbo Boeing 747-800 double-deck aircraft on the Mumbai-Frankfurt route, making GVK CSIA the only airport in India to handle four Code–F flights, the largest civilian aircraft, in a single day. Currently, the airport handles three Airbus 380 aircraft operated by Etihad, Emirates and Singapore Airlines from Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Singapore respectively.
The 3rd edition of the Sustainability Report - ‘The Sustainability Report 2016’ based on the theme ‘Imagination is Inspirational’ was released by CEO, MIAL, Mr Rajeev Jain. The report aims to provide its stakeholders a glimpse of the company’s various economic, environmental and social accomplishments.

GVK EMRI-Uttar Pradesh gave its citizens another reason to smile when it started the 108 Mobile App service on 1 November, 2016. Launched by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of UP Shri Akhilesh Yadav, . The mobile app will speed up the process of calling in case of an emergency.
GVK EMRI-Tamil Nadu 104 call centre witnessed a spike in calls seeking instructions from doctors and paramedics about the first-aid measures in case of injuries during Diwali. Most of those injured had burns either on their faces or their hand.

World AIDS Day (1 December)
World AIDS Day is celebrated every year on 1 December to raise public awareness about AIDS (Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome). AIDS is a pandemic disease caused due to the infection of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). The day is observed by the government organizations, NGOs, civil societies and other health bodies by organizing speeches or forums to spread awareness about AIDS. The international theme of World AIDS Day 2016 is “Hands Up for HIV Prevention.”
Indian Navy Day is celebrated on 4 December to commemorate the launch of Operation Trident against Pakistan during the Indo-Pak War of 1971. On this day, the Indian Navy carried out ‘Operation Trident’, which was a devastating attack on Pakistan Naval Headquarters of Karachi. The attack was successful as it sank a minesweeper, a destroyer and an ammunition supply ship.
