School

Project Ideas! Bring Up Grades (B.U.G.)

Challenge students at the end of the

quarter to raise their grades 0.5 or more

by the next quarter. Students who meet

the challenge are invited to an ice

cream party, pizza party, or barbecue.

They are excused from class to attend

these parties.

Elementary Field Day

During the school year, invite

elementary school students to a field

day, but don’t limit it just to track and

field. Instead, conduct math contests,

art shows, spelling bees, reading

contests, etc. Your Key Club can

donate trophies for the winners. No

money needs to be charged, just let the

kids have fun!

Flags

Have Key Club members hang your

nation’s flag throughout the school,

making sure they are correctly hung.

Library Clean-Up

Help librarians keep the library clean.

Set up a schedule for club members to

fill on a rotating basis.

Tutoring

Tutor youngsters from area elementary

schools. Contact churches to see if they

know of youngsters in need of tutoring.

Key Club members can help the

students develop reading skills through

after-school practice in the church.

Alan Wang

LaMissTenn’s International Trustee. Goals for 2011-2012: I want to contribute to Key Club International

by working from the ground up, placing the best resources possible

in the hands of our Lieutenant Governors and club officers. I also

hope to make Key Club more of a household name. Key Club is

absolutely amazing, and it is rather sad to see that many high

school students don't know much about what it accomplishes. In

fact, the lack of knowledge is most apparent in many of our

members—I've seen too many Key Clubbers that don't even know

anything outside of their school's club. The knowledge of there

being something larger out there really inspired me to work harder

as a servant leader, and I think that many others would agree.

Finally, I really want to see more K-Family cooperation. By operating

as isolated units, each branch of the K-Family is not optimally

benefiting the global community. Joint projects between all levels

would boost the already amazing achievements of the K-Family.

=Major Emphasis Program

Some of these organizations are part of the Major Emphasis Program! Major Emphasis Program

(MEP) is a program in which Key Club International challenges all Key Clubs and members to

focus their energies on making an international impact. The purpose of the Major Emphasis

Program Committee is to promote the service initiative and service partners by coming up with

new project ideas.

and cure

diabetes and

to improve the

lives of all people affected by diabetes. They lead the fight against the deadly

consequences of diabetes and fight for those

affected—by diabetes. They also:

-fund research to prevent, cure and manage

diabetes.

-deliver services to hundreds of communities.

- provide objective and credible information.

-give voice to those denied their rights

because of diabetes.

Live 2 Learn

focuses on the

development of

children, especially in the 5 to 9-year-old age

group.

Though one of the main motivations for

implementing this program is to promote

education and improve literary skills, it does

not stop there. Live 2 Learn is meant to

encourage the development of children in

many ways, socially, academically, and

creatively! Key Club members are serving

primary children in three main areas:

- Improving Grades,

-Giving Back,

-Growing Together.

Their Mission

To advocate for the protection of children's rights, to help meet their

basic needs and to expand their opportunities to reach their full

potential. Working in over 150 countries, UNICEF is a global humanitarian relief organization providing children with

health care and immunizations, clean water, nutrition and food security, education, emergency relief and

more. The U.S. Fund for UNICEF supports UNICEF's humanitarian relief work through fundraising, advocacy

and education in the United States. UNICEF's unrivalled access, expertise and influence with governments

throughout the world has allowed us to save more children's lives than any other humanitarian organization.

Despite extraordinary progress, 22,000 children still die each day from preventable causes. Our mission is to

do whatever it takes to make that number zero by giving children the essentials for a safe and healthy

childhood.
