5 MAJOR THRUST OF CASCADING THE VISION STATEMENT To Know the vision- understand & Familiarize the

vision, learn, nurtured & manage the vision. To Desire the Vision- it becomes the idea, the

vision becomes constitutive/form & Normative/standards of behavior.

To Value the Vision- we need to believe in the vision, that it will make a difference. That it will help set tone of living the Church.

To Live the Vision- witnessing is vital. Leaders should be models of living the components of the vision.

To Share the Vision- it should inspire us & move us in a commitment to bring it to people to be able to appreciate the vision.

THE EVOLVING COMMUNITY

Page 11: Divine Mercy - Vision-Mission Statement 2010

THE COMMUNITY TODAY ?

Page 12: Divine Mercy - Vision-Mission Statement 2010

A VISION SHOULD CREATE A CULTURE OF LOVE

What is a Community culture?A community/organization’s culture is the

way insiders behave based on the values and group traditions they hold or practice.

It is the fundamental building blocks of an organized community life. Invisible quality, a style, a character or our way of doing things.

A feeling encountered as you join groups or community. The essence or soul of the community

Sets of unique custom, values, and artifacts of a people.(an item or object made by man )

It supports the mission ,goal & strategy of the community.

Page 13: Divine Mercy - Vision-Mission Statement 2010

SCRIPTURAL REFERENCE OF CULTURE “So whatever you eat or drink or whatever

you do, do it all for the glory of God” (1 Cor.10:31)

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him” ( Col. 3:17)

Paul to Colossians,” Whatever you do, work at it w/ all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Jesus Christ you are serving(Col.3:23-24)

“For the people of this world are more shrewd in dealing w/ their own kind than are the people of light” (Lk 16:8)

Page 14: Divine Mercy - Vision-Mission Statement 2010

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT THE COMMUNITY’S CULTURE IS?

Identify your Values (your preferences, taste) Know what your Belief ( moral absolutes, black &

white issues) Community values & belief is the glue that holds &

binding us together. Ex. Plywood, rope, nail, etc. Its like a magnet that attracts newcomers, members

and leaders. It is like a ruler that measure how the community is

doing. It is dynamic, flexible, innovative, contemporary,

future oriented and respected & agreed by leaders in all times

It is the image and reputation builder of the community.

Page 15: Divine Mercy - Vision-Mission Statement 2010

SIX REACTIONS TO CULTURE CONFLICT Comforter-”I’ve just got to accept things the

way they are” Complainer-”I may have to work here, but I

don’t have to like it” Innovator-”let’s change things around here!” Ritualist-”Ministry? What ministry? I’m just

going through the motions”. Riding the tide along.

Retreatist-” I’ve got to get out of this situation ASAP!”

Rebel- “ They can’t make me conform- I’ll show them!”

Page 16: Divine Mercy - Vision-Mission Statement 2010

DEALING WITH VALUES AND BELIEFScriptural Model & Guide Listen to win-( 1 Cor. 9:19-23) Love diversity- (Eph.4:1-17) Look for Unity-( Gal. 3:26-29) Learn to like those who are different-(Acts 10:9-

38) Learn to separate methodology from theology- (1

Cor. 3:1-9) Long for His Glory –(Jn 17:20-23)

Page 17: Divine Mercy - Vision-Mission Statement 2010

…“LIVING & TRUSTING, ……JOYFUL COMMUNION, JOURNEYING TO THE FATHER.”

Page 18: Divine Mercy - Vision-Mission Statement 2010

VISION STATEMENT

The Vision statement should be short and to the point. It should be say simply what the goal of the community is – making it superlative(extreme or exaggerated) - and specify the positive steps of achieving that goal.

T o establish where the community is now and how it is perceived by the members and the public at large.

To establish what the community wishes to become.

These objectives should be specific and positive, and convey a dynamic commitment to success.

They must be grounded in reality: the Community must have the structure, people and resources to carry them out.

“mission is the objective or set of objectives that will allow the vision to become reality.
