Ditching The Liesmessage by John Andrews

What are the reasons we have such a battle to live our lives for Christ. We do the things we shouldn’t and don’t do the things we should, time and time again, yet wanting to do the things we should, but we don’t and get sidetracked? It can become a vicious cycle spiraling downward, or am I the only one this has happened to?

The Battlefield is in the Mind

Our Scripture for today is:Romans 12:2 (NIV)2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.


I do not want to spend much time on our enemy and his tactics, but to give you the tools and weapons you will need to use to win the battle of the mind.

Know your Enemy!


One of his best tactics is to speak to you in the first person.Of course situations and other people speaking death into you or at you is rough, but Satan speaking thoughts into your life as if it’s your thoughts is his best weapon.


A. He targets our minds to make us ignorant of God’s will and God’s Word so that we are defenseless so that you either fall, start dropping good fruit, get miss led, or become infective.


A. Your defense is the inspired word of God! Read it, memorize it, trust in it.B. Put on the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit

A. Ephesians 6:17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.


John 17:15-17 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. 17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.


A. (Rom 12:2 NIV) Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. B. 1 John 2:15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For everything in the world the cravings

of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and doescomes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.

C. (Heb 11:13 NIV) All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth.

D. (1 Pet 2:11 NIV) Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul.

B. Random thoughts are not bad or sinful, but dwelling upon them is. Those thoughts come from our enemy the devil.A. When a thought and desire come together, there is conception and given time and opportunity you will act upon it.B. Yes many times it’s the enemy, but there is our own evil desires that are a real problem.C. James 1:13-15 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14 but each person

is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

D. 2 Cor 10:4-6 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

A. I like KJV for this verse (5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;)

E. 6 And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.


A. What are you feeding your mind? A. Is it things of the Spirit of Life or Death.

B. This feeding of your mind can come in many forms, friends, relations, partners, work, radio, TV and various forms of entertainment.C. Which dog wins story.

A. Let’s look at this whole thing again as a review

To Conclude2 Pet 1:3-8 His divine power has given us everything we

need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through

these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine

nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. 5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, selfcontrol; and to selfcontrol, perseverance;

and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in

your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
