Next School

Council Meeting

is Wed. Jan. 15th

at 6:00 in the

library.

Everyone is

always welcome

to attend.

Congratulations goes out to the eleven members of our very first Intermediate Co-ed Volleyball Team who showed great dedication, sportsmanship, and perseverance throughout their season this year. They played three games against other schools which included Lincoln Centennial, E.I. McCulley, and Pine Grove. They showed excellent improvements throughout the season. These improvements were shown when they played in an all day tournament, against the same schools, and made it to the championship game. They worked extremely hard and well as team, and ended up second overall. Way to go Royals! This year’s team consisted of: Connor A., Connor B., Shawnee C., Madison E., Dalton, H., Chloe J., Sam J., Piper L., Erin M., Maney S., and Nick S.

Please do not

bring your dogs

property!!

Thank you for

your support!

This year our junior girls volleyball team included Kennedi B, Kaitlyn B, Amber B,

Heather B, Antigone D, Juliana E, Bryanna F, Hayley H, Kelly M, Olivia M, Therese R,

Audra W and Mayze Z. The girls had a fantastic season. Their ability to encourage

each other and work as a team had them advance within our region to one of the top

spots - playing the championship game against Port Weller. They placed second in all

of region 4 in the final championship game and advanced to the DSNB playoffs. The

girls were very dedicated to the team and each other and their hard work paid off.

Congratulations on your success girls! Thank-you also to all of the parents and grand-

parents who drove our girls to and from games. Your support was greatly needed

and appreciated.

The 2013 junior volleyball season was definitely a success. Serving, bumping, set-ting, spiking, and team play all improved greatly throughout the season. Nearly every set the team played was decided by only a few points separating the winning and losing teams, so each game was filled with exciting action. Mrs. Leemet and Mrs. Mac Donald would like to thank all members of the team for their hard work and posi-tive attitudes that they displayed during practices and games. The following students need to be congratulated: Robbie, Lucas, Callen, Ryan, Denis, Emad, Liam, Ethan, Jared, Simon, Dylan, Teddy and Tyler.

There may be times during the school year where inclement weather or other situations could cause transporta-tion cancellations or school closures. At times when student transportation has been cancelled and schools remain open, the decision of whether or not to have children in school on that day rests with the parent or guardian. Should you decide not to send your child to school in the event that transportation is cancelled but schools remain open, or if your child is ill or lat e, please ensure that you call your child’s school to in-form them of your child’s absence. A key resource in any emergency is the DSBN Emergency Information form that you filled out at the beginning of the school year. Please let the school know of any changes in contact information or procedures you wish to be followed throughout the school year. For secondary schools it may become necessary to cancel late buses. Notice will be provided via school an-nouncements and on the websites and subscription features by 11:30 a.m. Information about transportation cancellations and school closures will be available as soon as it is available through the following channels: Websites: www.dsbn.org www.nsts.ca Subscription Features: DSBN Facebook or Twitter NSTS Transportation Delay or Cancellation Alerts Phone: Niagara Student Transportation Services 905-346-0290 Voice Auto Attendant Television Stations: CH—Hamilton City TV Breakfast Television CTV Toronto Cogeco Channel 10 Radio Stations
