missions trip to the

Men’s Ministries Light
for the Lost Tour
VOLUME 9, ISSUE 5
It happens almost every day,
and everywhere we go; and it
most certainly happens when
we attend church. People we
know and often even strangers
we meet ask us “How are you
doing?” to which we typically
reply, “Fine”.
During the Listening Tour we
conducted in July I shared one
of the priorities I feel God wants
us to focus on in our district
which is Minister’s Health. I am
talking about physical, spiritual
and emotional health; I am
talking about personal and rela-
tional, in public and in private,
at home or in the pulpit, our
marriages and families, our
thoughts, desires, ambitions
and motives, you and me! So,
how are you/we doing?
There are so many places we
could go with this brief article
but for these moments let’s just
consider TODAY. What are you
doing TODAY to invest in being
the healthy man or woman of
God that He desires.
I heard Assistant General
Superintendent Alton Garrison
in a recent meeting say that of
approximately 300 leaders
mentioned in scripture, only
about 25% of their lives ended
well. Is it possible that the
Apostle Paul had this in focus in
1 Corinthians 9 when he shared
truth for life’s journey and the
life disciplines that are essential
for us all?
With this in focus, let’s get
practical for a few moments.
The key to success in this area
is not found in mere plans or
goals or resolutions but in the
daily grind of life. It is best
summed up in this statement I
heard recently.
“The secret to your success
is found in your daily routine!”
Yes, when you boil it down,
it is the daily routine, the
choices and priorities and
decisions we make day after
day that make the difference.
So, with this in mind, wherever
you are today, take a moment
and consider these questions.
• Have you spent personal
time with God today? Have you
read His Word, sensed His pres-
ence; listened for His voice?
• Are you carrying “stuff” from
yesterday (or last year) you
were never designed to carry?
• Is there someone you
need to forgive? Are you
carrying offences or is
there unresolved conflict?
• How is it with you and
God? You and others?
Have you checked your
heart lately?
• If you’re married, have
you affirmed the value and
priority of this precious gift to
your spouse, your children, your
family today?
• How are you using your
time? You know we only get
one chance to use each
moment.
• Is God pleased with your
investment in ministry today?
Your disciplines? Your plans for
the future?
• In light of today, how do you
feel about tomorrow?
Obviously I have only
touched the surface on this
subject, and I must confess that
I am convicted by some of my
own words written. However,
my prayer for you (and for me)
is that TODAY we will invest
wisely in the life God has given
us so that when all is said and
done we will hear Him
say, “Well Done.”

“The secret to
your success is
found in your
daily routine!”

Money Control You.
1. Determine What Matters Most in Your Life.
Life is full of stories of individuals who “made it big” but failed to “make it good.” We do not have to walk in their footsteps but learn from their failures so to shape our journey.
2. Learn That Wealth
Is Not THE Answer to Life.
Once you’ve achieved a certain amount of posses-sions, you begin to realize that your possessions have you instead of you having them. At that point of discovery you become ripe for something more meaningful.
3. Seek Financial Knowledge, Understanding and Wisdom
If you want to learn about budgeting, investments, and fiscal management, you will have to take the initiative yourself to learn. Living within your means is a major key to enjoying your wealth without be-coming materialistic and bound by debt and the need for more. Money has a way of creating an
NEW BABY BOY!
Our congratulations to
Rev. Michael and Amy
Stone on the birth of their
son, Seth Everett Stone.
Seth was born on August 6,
weighing 7lbs.3ozs.

appetite for more that is rarely satisfied.
4. Give Away Your Resources
Perhaps the greatest proof that money does not have you in its grip is if you are giving it away to good causes. Money tends to most closely represent our seat of priorities. It is not until those priorities change and money loses its grip on us that we are able to become spiritually mature.
Godly stewardship is not only the right model for the believer but it is essential for the work of our Lord as it is carried out in the local church and the greater plan to bring forth His Kingdom. As we contend with an uncertain world economy let us also be willing to contend with our-selves in light of God’s Word on stewardship. Glenn Reynolds didn’t say it directly but his article implied the question ‘How can I be like God and also be a slave to materialism?’ The answer is simple, you can’t!
In the fall 2009 issue of Enrichment, Glenn Rey-nolds shared in his article ‘What Difference Does My Giving Make?’ that “your giving inoculates you against materialism. Today’s culture tempts us to love things and use people, but giving injects your life with the antidote to the materialistic virus of our culture.”
I so appreciate the use of the descriptive terms antidote and virus. They paint for us a word picture that materialism is a disease that infects an individual to the point that it is destructive. We know that “God so loved that He gave…” and when we give we model Christ-likeness but our culture has bowed too long to the god of materialism and we have become the wor-shiper of “things” instead of a worshiper of God.
To go along with this principle I want to share with you some thoughts that I have discovered to be helpful tools in my own life by Alan Nelson, taken from ‘My Own Worst Enemy’ entitled: Don’t Let

The Annual SAM’s Camp Meeting and
Revival was a great success!
Our guest speaker, Dr. Lois Burkett of New
Creations Ministries from Arizona, delivered
some fantastic
messages from our
Father’s Word.
We were also honored to have the
Harvester’s Quartet from Southwestern
Assemblies of God University perform
songs from their latest recording
sessions.
There were SAM’s members from
around the state in attendance as well
as our District Superintendent,
Rev. Mike Dickenson and our
District Secretary/Treasurer,
Marcus McClain.
Here are some pictures
highlighting our
Camp Meeting.

God’s greatness never
ceases to amaze me! I
am thankful to Him for the
many undeserved bless-
ings that He poured out
u p o n u s a s w e
worshipped Him during
Women’s Conference
2009.
Our Speaker, Damaris
Carbaugh, challenged,
inspired, and motivated
us to seek God and to
know and love His Word.
Our Worship Leader,
Rejina Christopher, led us
into God’s presence with
singing.
The women of our district
responded in awe and
thanksgiving to the
presence of Christ. They
basked in the fellowship
of believing women and
they moved and spoke
under the direction of the
Holy Spirit!
I want to thank every
Pastor and leader who
took the time to remem-
ber our ladies in prayer.
The women of your
church returned to you
with the measure of full-
ness in the Lord that
directly correlated to the
time you spent praying for
them and for this event.
I am honored to serve the
Women of the New
Mexico District! I seek to
lead well in Jesus’ name
so that together we may
grow and thrive as
Intentional Women!
Words can not begin to
express how blessed Tina
and I feel to be serving such
incredibly intentional women
of God! Thank you espe-
cially to Brenda Kofahl and
the accommodating staff at

Church. We appreciate all
that you do and the
sacrifices you make. TCC
Women’s Ministries leader,
Carol McCullough and her
team, are a blessing to us
and to the District.
God was good! God is
good! Even now as we
begin to prepare for
Conference 2010 we are
THIRSTY to taste and see
that THE LORD WILL BE
GOOD!
The New Mexico Women’s
Ministries trip to the Dominican
Republic is approaching
rapidly! April 29-May 7 will be
the dates that Women from all
over our District join together to
minister to children and families
in Los Colinas. Every applica-
tion available at Women’s
Conference was taken so if you
are interested in making the trip
please call the District Office
and request one.
This adventure is sure to be
a trip you will never forget!
