Blessings, Benita An Opportunity to Learn About Mission Service Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ! Every few years I spend several months in the United States sharing mission stories, teaching, and fundraising. I am searching for opportunities on my summer mission tour in the East Ohio Conference to share mission stories and talk about my mission experienc- es. Unfortunately, all of my Sunday morning slots have been filled. However, there are still many opportunities for you and your congregation! I can come and speak to your United Methodist Women or United Methodist Men groups. I can teach a session on mission to your Vacation Bible School. I can preach at a midweek worship service. I can give a presentation at a specially -organized meeting. If you can’t organize a group, I can come and meet your mission committee chair. Or I would be happy to meet with the pastor and share my stories. I was called into mission service in The United Methodist Church and sent by the East Ohio Conference in 2011. I was posted as the pastor of the ecumenical Moscow Protestant Chaplaincy and executive director of MPC Social Services in Moscow, Russia. In 2015, the General Board of Global Ministries sent me to Vienna, Austria, where I serve as the pastor of the international and multi- cultural English-Speaking United Methodist Church of Vienna. Since starting in mission service 7 years ago, I have ministered ex- tensively with immigrants including asylum-seekers and refugees, persons who were trafficked, economic migrants. I’ve learned how to share the love of God in cross-cultural and multicultural contexts. Originally from Crestline, Ohio (near Mansfield on U.S. Route 30), I grew up in the East Ohio Conference and served in many different capacities in the conference prior to seminary and then mission service. I am available in East Ohio from June 17-August 20. Can you help me? Invite me to your church. Let me know how I can help enable your congregation in mission and service to Christ! Part-Time Choir Director Opportunity Uhrichsville First UMC is currently looking for a part-time, energetic, musically-inclined leader to share both their passion for God and passion for music in our church. This position will be a part-time, volunteer/non-paid posi-tion in which the director will lead music practices, help select the songs, and sing in the choir once a week. Even though this is a non-paid position, we do offer the family the friendship of a fantastic community, excellent wor-ship services, and a resume building opportunity.

Rev. Wheeler Honored Rev. Harley Wheeler, pastor of Minerva UMC, was recent-ly honored as the 2018 Minerva Person of the Year by Miner-va’s service organizations. Rev. Harley Wheeler is serving his seventh year as pastor at Minerva United Methodist Church. During his time there, the church began its monthly Produce Distribution that now serves around 220 households per month, he also started an emergency food pantry, organized annual trips for children to a one-day event at Camp Wanake, he participated in Habitat for Humanity builds, and held monthly Nursing Home Wor-ship services. Wheeler is active in the Annual Family Fun Day event and community worship services. He helped to start the Minerva Area Food Pantry Council, and in the role of grant-writer, has helped to bring over $60,000 into the community over the last three years to address food insecurity. Additionally, he has given public presentations addressing the problems of food insecurity, pornography and human trafficking. “Seeing this list of past winners, I hope to be worthy of this honor,” said Wheeler. “Being in Minerva for only seven years and winning person of the year shows how much of a nurturing and welcoming community we have.”
