ADA TEMP MEASURES
The Ada County Elections office is taking
additional steps to further our compliance with
the Americans with Disabilities Act. We take
seriously the physical accessibility of the
County’s polling places to people with mobility
and vision disabilities. For some polling places
this will mean sometimes taking temporary
remedial measures.
-
ADA TEMP MEASURES
Temporary measures are meant to alleviate accessibility restrictions to a building due to its design and or layout.
Our polling places are a mix of building styles and building age.
Some measures are applied in the parking areas. An example would be parking cones and signage for accessible
parking.
Some measures address access to the building. An example would be creating ramps where they do not exist.
In the polling place moveable barriers are relocated temporarily. An example would be planters or extra furniture impeding entry or
exit to the voting area.
-
ADA TEMP MEASURES
LINC ( Living independence Network
Corporation) has identified some polling places
requiring temporary remedies in order to be in
compliance with the ADA.
This is determined by an 88 point survey
instrument which encompasses the entirety of the
polling place. These surveys are conducted by
trained teams and can take several hours per site.
-
REQUIREMENTS OF PRECINCTS HAVING
TEMPORARY MEASURES IN PLACE
This form will be in the CJ bag if the polling place
requires measure be taken by LINC or by the
Election day staff.
This form must be filled out by every Election day
worker prior to opening the polls on Election day.
A checklist is included to remind the staff of the items
to make sure are in place.
The checklist is not exhaustive and not all items will
apply to every polling place.
-
