Texas House Bill 20.011

Make yourself a Timeline

1. Time to develop materials

2. When to make presentations - i.e. week before school starts

3. How long you plan on running campaign - we have historically done a month

Marketing Your Program

Pick a theme for your promotion i.e. Jump on the Bus, Go for the Gold, 15th Birthday

Make Giving Easy

1. Offer payroll deduction – check with business office to see what they need

use disclaimer that it will continue unless they notify the business office

2. Offer online enrollment of payroll deduction or a one-time donation

Creating Incentives

1. Offer an incentive to turn in your form TODAY

- i.e. an additional raffle chance

2. Have a Raffle – one chance for each $1 pledged

3. Select prizes that are broad appealing

- i.e. iPad or flat screen TV

4. Select items that don’t cost you anything

- i.e. wearing jeans or tickets to event

5. Award participation but be careful on

100% participation prizes

Presentations

1. Involve Board Members in “the ask” pairing them up with schools that they have relationships

2. Make sure you give the disclaimer that “this is a volunteer meeting”

3. Explain how the Foundation has made a difference for the district

4. Focus on participation rather than dollars donated

5. Make the ask – close the deal

Thank and Publicize!

1. Send thank you notes to donors – have board members sign them.

2. Hold a breakfast/lunch for the top campus or department who has the highest participation

3. List donors on your website and link it to Facebook
