District 5 Newsletter Volume 3 Greetings District 5 Community, As your school board representative, I want to say thank you for your support for the past two years. It is truly a pleasure to share school system information and events that has taken place over the past three months. As we continue to support each other, we will ensure the success of each student. “Standing Up For Education” District 5 Quarterly Newsletter January 2017 Mrs. Edwards and Dr. McBride visited the Henry County Senators at the Georgia State Capitol: Emanuel Jones and Rick Black History Celebration at SBES. The presenter portrayed Harriet Tubman. Having fun in the sun supporting the special needs students by attending the Henry County Special Olympics at SHS and HCHS. A celebration with Henry County students at the Winter Graduation, PAC. February 2017 Mrs. Edwards enjoyed attended the Chamber’s Star Breakfast where outstanding students are recognized.

A special thanks is given to Grace Baptist Church and

their Pastor Clinton McFarland for their partnership with

the Henry County Schools where they serve lunch to the

Faculty and staff of several of our schools monthly.

Here in attendance is First Lady McFarland and Rev.

Kenneth McFarland, Mayor Judy Neal and the City of

Stockbridge Council members along with SES Principal,

and two board members, A. Edwards and Dr. McBride.

Public Comments are Welcome

Community members are welcome to provide comment at a meeting

of the Board according to the following procedures and guidelines.

Regular Meetings: The agenda for a regular meeting of the Board

shall include an opportunity for public participation. Individuals or

groups desiring to address the Board must sign-in prior to the start

of the meeting. The sign-in sheet will be located near the entrance to

the Board Room.

Speakers are asked to limit their comments to three (3) to five (5)

minutes. Groups are asked to designate a spokesperson. Speakers

should be aware that this public forum may not be used to address

specific staff members, students, or other confidential matters.

Study Session Meetings: Unless otherwise provided, any request for

public participation at a study session meeting shall be submitted in

writing to the Superintendent no later than three (3) business days

prior to the meeting. Such requests shall include a description of the

topic to be addressed. The inclusion of such items shall be at the

discretion of the Superintendent.
