Component 3d Providing Feedback to Students
The value of feedback is maximized if students use it in
their learning. In most cases, such student use of feedback
requires planning by the teacher.Page 51 Pilot Book

Feedback is consistently high
quality. Provision is made for
students to use feedback in
their learning.
Feedback is consistently high
quality. Students regularly use
feedback to enhance their
learning experiences.
Writing Review
Analysis
Final Analysis
The summarized results are analyzed and the process
is repeated. Now the writing is known and the rubrics
are known.
Chris summarizes and averages all scores and
comments and provides this to the authors.
All students (as well as Chris) read everyone’s writing
and grade the writing with the AP rubric.
Writing
Students (and teacher Chris Quick) write a “closed
reading analysis” of an essay or writing.

Component 1e Designing Coherent Instruction
A critical element in instructional design is the creation or adaptation of a series of leading activities within an instructional unit. This sequence should be logical and likely engage students in meaningful activities.

Teacher proactively
communicates with parents
about students’ progress on a
regular basis and is available as
needed to respond to parent
concerns.
Teacher provides information
to parents frequently on both
positive and negative aspects
of student progress. Response
to parent concerns is handled
with great sensitivity.
“Pat Pazerunas is the Graba
Geek of the Week! Pat very bravely
and generously shared with us about
his relative with Down's Syndrome
when we were discussing the
inheritance of Down's as well as the
effects of Down's Syndrome on
individuals who inherit it.”
“He also made us aware that
March 21st is World Down's
Syndrome Day. This date is chosen
because individuals with Down's
Syndrome have 3 copies of the 21st
chromosome (3-21).”

One Parent’s Response…
“Thanks for the weekly updates. It’s a great
treat for us to be able to peek into our kid’s
daily activities. It’s getting more and more
difficult to get this kind of detailed
information directly from them at their age.
After all, who would want to be chatting
with their parents about what they did in
school while they can be text messaging
their friends right? :-)”
Another parent…
“I am so amazed to see the resources and tools available for this generation to study. I always tell Rishi that you are all very lucky, you have everything to get all A’s, but you just need to work on your willingness to make use of the tools to their fullest extent.”
