Rational confi dence
Whether your business is road transport or depends on road transport, you probably see
trucks in purely rational terms. Scania trucks are all about ensuring the lowest possible cost
of operation. In multiple pick-up and drop-off situations, premium-quality Scania distribution
vehicles deliver uptime and productivity that can be measured in reduced costs per kilometre
over the entire service life of the vehicles.
The link you can trust
Lasting quality costs more to build, but pays off over time. This long-term saving stems directly
from the Scania hallmarks of legendary reliability, outstanding fuel economy and exceptional
driveability.
In practical terms, that means you get a durable vehicle with excellent fuel economy and
environmental performance that meets Euro 5 and EEV standards. And drivers love Scania’s
distinctive handling. Call it ease of use, manoeuvrability or smoothness – it’s everything that
makes it easy to simply step on-board and drive off with confi dence.
Keeping your supply chain fl owing
Why Scania owners love their trucks
Quality yields uptime yields productivity
When investing in new trucks you want to be confi dent that your fl eet will benefi t from lower total operating cost, for many years to come. We can promise this confi dence because com-prehensive surveys of existing customers show long ownership cycles and very low warranty costs – strong indicators of reliability and satis-faction. Feedback from these operators also makes it clear that they appreciate the fuel effi -ciency of these premium vehicles. And fi nally, a quality truck that’s built to last will achieve stronger residual values – a real advantage when it is time to purchase new vehicles. In short, your investment for the long-term defi nitely pays off.
Just add diesel
We also work to control and limit environmental impact with technical solutions that help your bottom line. All our inline engines are equipped with Scania EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) technology. Scania EGR enables compliance with Euro 5 and voluntary EEV (enhanced environmentally-friendly vehicle) standards. This means you meet the most stringent emission levels established by the European Community without diminishing exemplary fuel economy. And it’s convenient and simple for drivers: no need to spend time fi lling up with additives. Just add diesel!
SCANIA DISTRIBUTION TRUCKS
Why Scania drivers love their trucks
Drivers often meet customers face-to-face, so they are a natural part of your company’s profi le. That’s why we believe in building comfortable and attractive vehicles that strongly appeal to drivers and help them to stay relaxed on the job. In fact, many transport companies tell us they invest in Scania trucks precisely in order to attract qualifi ed drivers.
Driveability, manoeuvrability, visibility
Good driveability is the positive synergy that arises when superb ergonomics and control meet powerful torque and turning ability. Superior visibility is also prioritised. Scania trucks are noted for offering exceptional all-round visibility. Large windscreens with low-placed, wide-angle and close-up mirrors enhance vision along the sides of the vehicle – a critical factor in busy urban areas and heavy traffi c. Optional reverse and side view cameras are available to extend the driver’s fi eld of vision.
Comfort and climate
A selection of seats is available to suit drivers of all sizes. These incorporate air suspension and integrated seatbelts. A wide range of adjustments to the seat and steering column make it possible to fi nd exactly the right position for relaxed driv-ing. Fully automatic climate control can be speci-fi ed and the air conditioning unit is so powerful that a complete exchange of air in the largest cab takes less than 50 seconds. Ultimately, Scania trucks attract skilled drivers who drive safely, economically and take care of vehicles and goods – another example of how Scania contributes to better long-term economy.
Easy access
Exceptional cab access via wider inclined steps. Large, well-placed
handrails make moving in and out of the cab as convenient and
safe as it gets.
Loading
Scania’s air suspension improves cargo operations by making
it possible to handle more goods in less time. Chassis height is
easily adjusted for convenient loading and unloading.
Manoeuvrability
Scania offers a range of wheelbases and the ability to optimise axle
placement for actual body lengths. The result is an optimum weight
distribution and an exceptional turning radius in tight places.
Load volume
The ability to place the body close to the cab enhances total
volume capacity for a given wheelbase and turning radius.
Scania modularity makes it possible to maximise payload while
still retaining excellent manoeuvrability.
Driver environment
All controls and switches are logically placed within the sweep
of the driver’s arm. Scania Opticruise automated gearchanging
responds quickly when reversing or manoeuvring at low speed,
which enhances effi ciency and safety.
SCANIA DISTRIBUTION TRUCKS
Ergonomic thinking
Scania’s total ergonomic perspective for cab interiors helps attract
experienced drivers and keeps them relaxed and safe on the road.
And a satisfi ed driver presents the best possible face to your customers.
Visibility
Scania distribution trucks offer exceptional all-round visibility. The
result is increased effi ciency leading to faster deliveries, less stress,
greater safety and reduced risk of low-speed collisions.
Daily service
Access points for handling daily maintenance
are conveniently placed for ease of care.
Cabs for every need
In addition to the day cab with extra space behind the seats there
is a short cab that provides shorter overall length. This helps opti-
mise cargo space and manoeuvrability in tight urban conditions.
Bench seats for two passengers are available as an option.
Ease of use
The new instrument cluster helps drivers stay focused on the traffi c,
while supplying all essential information. An optional trip computer
uses a digital display to provide trip statistics and performance as
well as present-vehicle data while underway.

As your business faces increasing controls and new environmental legislation we are here to help. Scania is deeply committed to sustainable transportation – providing viable solutions to-day, while refi ning innovations for the future. We believe that much can be achieved, right now, using commercially viable alternative fuels in our assortment of cutting-edge engine solu-tions. A superb example is Scania’s unique diesel-ethanol engine, which has been fully proven during twenty years of intense city-bus opera-tion. This highly refi ned, third-generation engine offers effi ciency equal to conventional diesels – 43% at full load. It also easily meets EEV standards with the ability to cut fossil carbon emissions by 90%. Are you interested in gooing renewable in your urban transport operations? If so, you are most welcome to contact your local Scania rep-resentative for further discussions and support.
Achieving transport sustainability
Looking forward
Scania already has Euro 5 engines in all output classes and EEV engines for urban transport applications. Three of these are diesel-fuelled and another is our new, diesel-ethanol engine. Between 1970 and 2000, carbon dioxide emis-sions from Scania trucks were reduced by 50%, per tonne-kilometre. We are convinced that an additional reduction of 50% is possible by 2020. This will be achieved via the increased use of renewable fuels and continuous vehicle improve-ments, including hybrid solutions.

Easy to build on
Scania chassis are renowned for simple body-building. Bodybuilders can request standardised interfaces to fulfi l specifi c production needs and improve cost effi ciency. Each Scania chassis provides a careful balance of strength and durability for the gross weight, together with a competitive body/payload balance.
Modularity and fl exible chassis solutions enable optimal results, even with specialised body types and axle confi gurations. Scania facilitates bodybuilding and bodywork adaptation with:• Numerous fl exible placement options means
bodies fi t with no need for special adaptation or reinforcement.
• Pre-drilled holes and factory-mounted brack-ets make it easy for bodybuilders to quickly attach the body directly onto the chassis.
• Cut-to-fi t frames, available direct from the factory, provide the right rear overhang and eliminate the need to adjust frame length when fi tting the body.
• Prepared electronics facilitates the process of making connections between the chassis and body. Modular electrical infrastructure with interface to the vehicle’s CAN-bus also makes it simple to add extra equipment.
Visualise results online
If body mounting requires special expertise, ask your local Scania representative to demonstrate our web-based support tool with Individual Chassis Drawings (ICD). This useful programme shows multi-layered views of the frame and access to the various PTO locations. ICDs are available up to 90 days before delivery, so bodybuilders can prepare the necessary mountings on the body before the vehicles arrives. The result is improved productivity for bodybuilders with better quality and faster delivery of the com-plete vehicle.
SCANIA DISTRIBUTION TRUCKS
Scania cabs form an immensely strong structure. Developed through extensive dynamic and static testing of heavy front and rear impacts, they meet the Swedish standards, which are among the toughest in the world. Scania offers an extensive range of trucks in the P-, G- and R-series. This will accommodate your needs for various body mounting heights and positions. The new high-roof P Highline cab features easy entry combined with excellent interior space. To make driving as pleasurable, safe and pro-ductive as possible we offer:• Quick and easy entry and exit in multi-drop
situations with wider steps and ergonomic handrails.
• High-quality fi ttings, interior and driving en-vironment typical to all Scania cabs.
• Air-suspended driver seat and ergonomic dashboard and controls.
• Fully adjustable steering column that can be moved to the upright position and a gear lever that folds to the fl oor to create more room.
Cabs for busy distribution drivers
• Generous storage close to the driver’s seat and preparation for personal electronics like mo-bile phones, mp3 players and portable PCs.
• Optional fold-down passenger seat creates a useful table.
• Durable, high-quality materials that are easy-to-clean and stand up well to the heavy daily wear of drivers frequently leaving and enter-ing the cab.
• Exceptional aerodynamics and air-manage-ment that signifi cantly improve fuel economy and help keep vehicles cleaner.
• Air-conditioning that is adapted to the needs of the distribution business, where cab doors are frequently opened and closed. A complete air exchange in the largest cab takes less than 50 seconds. Fully automatic climate control can be specifi ed.
SCANIA DISTRIBUTION TRUCKS
A fully equipped P short cab
The short P cab is just as well equipped as all other Scania
cabs. If the maximum cube space for high volume loads is
your top priority, it’s good to know that the cargo length will
be maximised for a given wheelbase.
A spacious P day cab
The Scania P day cab is all about interior space. Extra room
behind the seats offers handy storage for large personal items,
yet keeps them out of sight. Optional resting equipment can be
supplied to add greater functionality and comfort.
A comfortable P sleeper cab
When it’s time for a break the Scania P sleeper cab provides
relaxing accommodation with a full-size bed that enables both
long-distance and local distribution to be accomplished effec-
tively and comfortably.
Generous storage is available with lockers above the wind-
screen and under the bed. The new P Highline cab features a
raised roof that adds even greater interior volume and storage,
while also allowing the driver to stand upright.
Low-entry P cab with cross-cab access
On certain routes, a distribution driver might enter and exit
the cab more than 100 times in one day, so this process has to
be easy. That’s why Scania low-entry models feature kerbside
kneeling functionality, broad and low steps, and a door that
opens to 90 degrees with ergonomically shaped grab handles.
Inside there is a cross-cab access and plenty of room so that
even long-legged drivers easily fi nd a comfortable driving posi-
tion. The low-entry cab can be specifi ed with seating for up to
four crew members. In the low-entry cab, the driver also enjoys
unmatched forward visibility.
Cutting-edge technology, razor-sharp performance
Scania engines and powertrains provide the up-time and effi ciency you need for today’s com-petitive distribution environment. You can choose from a complete range of fi ve- and six-cylinder Euro 5 engines. We can also offer engines that meet the tough EEV-standards.
Potent acceleration and smooth cruising
Our unique modular combustion concept was developed to optimise the balance between high torque, fuel economy and low emissions. Scania leadership in engine development and manufac-turing is evident in the ability to fulfi ll the Euro 5 emission requirements on all inline engines using EGR. A signifi cant advantage of EGR is that it works 100% of the time, which is a benefi t for vehicles operating predominantly in urban areas.
Putting less in, getting more out
The combination of several breakthroughs now offer unprecedented performance and economy. Scania XPI (extra-high pressure injection) operates well beyond conventional injection pressures to allow more precise combustion. Injection timing is completely independent of camshaft position and injection pressure can be set irrespective of engine speed. The seamless synergy of Scania XPI and Scania EGR is immediately apparent: better fuel economy, higher torque, enhanced driveability, less noise and increased uptime. The new variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) enhances performance and economy, while also limiting emissions. This is possible because the boost pressure is optimally regulated regardless of engine load. Scania VGT features an infi nitely variable fl ow of recirculation gases for extra control over emissions.

For the ultimate in driving ease, we also offer a fully automatic transmission as well as Scania Opticruise automated gearchanging. Scania Opticruise makes an excellent choice for distri-bution because it reduces the need for constant shifting, which helps drivers to better concen-trate on the road and traffi c. Scania Opticruise is also a good alternative for drivers who change vehicles from day to day. Scania distribution trucks feature superior low-speed manoeuvrability for safer, more re-laxed low-speed handling without the need to engage a separate crawler gear. All engines and gearboxes offer PTO options that feature easy control and stable running.
