What kind of media institution would distribute your media product and why?

• These are the type of film distributors which would distribute my film the reason is because our film is a mainstream film so it is more likely to be distributed from a big company. The benefits of this is that the film can get a big budget which allows them to afford above the line costs such as big name actors, directors and quality SFX.

• Our film distributor is MMM productions which is a big production company

• A distributing company is a company which gets films out to exhibitions such as cinemas so for example Lionsgate would invest in a film and then try to get it to cinema such as Odeon, Saw is a film which has been distributed by Lionsgate films because it is a mainstream film a distributing company such as Lionsgate would take it on and release it to big cinemas. In addition to mainstream there also independent film distributors such as Film4 which releases independent films however recently they have been releasing mainstream films so it is possible for independent film distributor to become an mainstream one. The main job of a distrubtor is to market the film to get people to see it this could also mean at film festivals or selling it to TV and etc.

Where the money comes from

• Distributors get their money from films they have made so for example when they market a film and gain profit/revenue they then input that money into other films.
