Aims and purposes of the course
Teach students to use English for their further education and work at level B1 (Common European Framework), and also to apply the knowledge of English in the chosen speciality
Consolidate skills acquired by students in the course of studying English during 1 - 3 years of university studies.
The requirements and the profile of prospective student.
Access to the Internet not less than required to complete the course (48 hours)
Skills of working with MS Word for Windows, e-mail and Internet sites
Availability of the programs MS Office, Internet Explorer, WinZip or similar software, Windows Mediaplayer
Level of English not lower than Intermediate (B1 CEF)

Use of English. Grammar: revision of tenses (active voice). The comparison of the following tenses: Present Simple and Present Continuous, Past Simple and Past Continuous, Present Perfect and Past Simple, Present Perfect and Present Perfect Continuous – 4 hours. Revision of tenses (passive voice)– 2 hoursWriting. Rules and examples of abstract writing – 1 hourSpeaking and vocabulary: “Education”. Searching for information, building up the glossary, material selection - 1 hour

Use of English. Grammar: revision of the infinitive and the infinitive constructions, the versions of translation from English into Russian. Exercises for improving translation skills – 6 hours.Speaking: “Scientist-mechanician”: Texts for reading, exercises for developing speaking skills – 2 hours.

Use of English. Grammar: revision of the participle and the participial constructions, the versions of translation, exercises for improving translation skills – 6 hours.

gerund constructions, the versions of translation into Russian, exercises for improving translation skills – 5 hours.
