Kirwan Surgical Products LLC has proudly partnered with Dr. Aaron Cohen-Gadol to create a revolutionary breakthrough in bipolar forceps. Each feature of these bipolar forceps has been analyzed and improved upon to create a new bipolar forceps that sets the standard by which all future forceps will be measured.

COHEN™ Bipolar Forceps join the Liberty™ family and are specially crafted with our patented AURA™ Elite Non-stick technology. Employing a unique metal alloy that offers a greater heat sinking capacity, these innovative forceps have a greater non-stick capability.

Maximum Comfort – COHEN™ Bipolar forceps provide maximum comfort by focusing on features that will give the surgeon the best feel in their hands.

● A padded grip minimizes potential hand slipping and improves the comfort and tactile feel.

● The wider spacing of the tines increases the tension of the forceps for greater surgeon control when manipulating and dissecting tissue.

● The aluminum core results in an ultra- l ightweight forceps that reduces hand fatigue during difficult and long surgeries.

Maximum Visibility – COHEN™ Bipolar Forceps revolutionary design and shape allows the surgeon maximum visibility during most surgical procedures.

● The axial bend of the forceps help pivot the surgeons hand away from the surgical site. In addition, the hard bend at the top of the bayonet has been rounded which dramatically increases visibility of target tissue in small incision surgical sites.

● The narrow profile of the instrument through its entire working length provides maximum visibility through the microscope.

● Kirwan’s patented buried irrigation offers ideal visibility in the six different irrigating styled forceps. This buried irrigation system places the tubing inside the forceps, creating a narrower profile and straighter tines increasing overall visibility.

Maximum Non-stick Performance – COHEN™ Bipolar Forceps are specially crafted with Kirwan’s patented AURA™ non-stick technology on an aluminum core resulting in a superior non-stick effect under the most demanding surgical conditions.

● AURA™ non-stick technology employs a unique metal alloy which has a higher conductivity and greater heat sinking capacity than standard forceps. This allows the surgeon to coagulate at a lower power setting thereby reducing the potential trauma to peripheral tissue.

● The forceps’ thin insulation has an extremely high dielectr ic strength which aids in patient safety during activation.

● The reduced tip exposure and geometry allows the surgeon to better target tissue while minimizing the potential for unwanted energy spread.

The NREF is an organization dedicated to providing support and education to neurosurgeons throughout their careers. Funding research into new and existing neuro treatments gives surgeons the opportunity to expand their field and improve lives of all patients and families.

Founded in 1980 by the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) and supported entirely by public donations, the NREF continues to focus on providing funding for research and training in neuroscience and neurosurgery. The goal is to expand and develop the field as well as enhance educational opportunity for the neurosurgical community.
