This first drop provides generic dis- play functionality so that applications programmers at various AN/BSY-2 sites can develop specific dis- play formats. With two more drops of the VDl scheduled early next year, the AN/BSY-2 team will have the most advanced display software capability Jin the world. The successful completion of this software drop was accomplished by the coordinated efforts of many people. In particular, the effort of Dan Jones, who was assigned the role of Test and Integration Direc- tor, was instrumental in reaching this major program milestone. A new item has been added to

the FICA taxes starting in 1991.The Omnibus Budget Recancilia­tian Act af 1990, passed byCangress an Octaber 27, 1990, hascreated a separate and higherwage base far Medicare purpases,beginning in 1991.

The 1991 FICA sacial securitytaxable wage base will be $53,400,an increase af $2,100 aver the 1990base af $51,300. The new 1991Medicare taxable wage base

("Haspital Insurance" partian)will be $125,000. Tax rates far anemplay~e's wages far 1991 will be6.2% for sacial security and 1.45%far ~l\e.,¥edicare/Haspital msu­ranee partian af the tax, and, amatching amaunt fram theemplayer.

Far SDI purpases, the tax basewill be $31,767 in 1991. The newSDI rate is 1.0% as campared to.0.9% far 1990. The maximum

amaunt af SDI tax payable by anemPlayee will be $317.67. This is$91.33 mare than the $226.34 max­imum paid in 1990.

McFarlin Retires After 43 Years

Bob has the distinction of holding the longest seniorityat Librascope. He joined the Company only 10 yearsafter the Company's incorporation in 1937.

In 1947, Bab McFarlin jained Librascape as aMachine Operatar "A", making $1.50 an haur! It wasthe end af Warld War II, and the machine shap wasin full gear. "We were a much mare diversified cam­pany then ," said McFarlin. "We were into. aptics,camputers, gunsights, and fire cantral systems, to.name a few."

Since jaining the Campany, McFarlin has held vari­aus pasitians. Bab jained the Madel Shap in 1949 asan Experimental Machinist. While in the Madel Shaphe became a Leadman, Assistant Fareman, Fareman,and General Fareman. He went an to.became an

Industrial Engineer, a Manufacturing Systems Ana­lyst, and is currently a Seniar Systems Analyst farManagement Infarmatian Systems.

"It has been satisfying to.me to. have been assaciatedwith a firm that is knawn warldwide far its praducts.

It is with great regret that I am leaving since I have ~enjayed so. very much the challenges af the jab farthe past 43 years."

Bab has made many friends at Librascape and willbe missed by all!
