PROBLEM To maximize productivity, DISH technical teams work side by side at the same onsite location during established core hours. However, this collaborative structure limits flex time and remote work opportunities. In this traditional work environment, staff retention was a challenge. To further complicate matters, multiple vendors provided technical training for 600 developers at the Corporate office. This inefficient process left DISH and their developers unsatisfied with the quality of training. In particular, developers weren’t getting the professional development they wanted, training vendors delivered mediocre courses at high prices and DISH lacked the internal structure to manage multiple vendors, courses and instructors. DISH executives knew that in order to improve morale, increase retention and optimize business transition efforts, they had to make technical Learning and Development (L&D) a priority. By partnering with Developer Academy, DISH Network reduced technical L&D costs by 30% while improving quality scores by 20%. The end result is better learning, lower overhead and higher morale.
