Not only is this an important part of your student’s grade in music, it is also a wonderful opportunity for your 6th grader to showcase some of their musical skills. Each student may earn up to 25 points at the concert. Their grade will be dependent upon their prompt arrival as well as their warm-up preparation, performance, stage behavior and concert etiquette.
Some helpful hints for the night of the concert:♪ Keep your student’s jacket or coat with you, as they will be dismissed from the hallway immediately after the concert.♪ Meet your student in the cafeteria after the concert or arrange to have them find you at your seat in the gym.
The dress for the students will be a solid white (or lightly-colored) shirt and black (or navy) pants/skirts (dark jeans, if necessary). Please remember that the school dress code is in effect.
Thank you for supporting the 6th grade performers! I look forward to seeing you on Nov. 19th.-Ms. LeBlanc

Discovery Newsfor November 18 - 22, 2019
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 23rd is the big day. Discovery has lots of student runners in our
Discovery group this year. We have many families running together. It is supposed to be chilly
but dry. Make sure you wear a base layer to run the race (hat and light gloves would be good).
Wear your D.A.R.T. or Discovery shirt if you have one on top of your layers. If you don’t
have either, wear your Turkey Trot shirt with your race number pinned to the front for the
run. When I checked the forecast for Sunday, the high is supposed to be 44 degrees. So, it
should be in the low 30’s at race time.
The race location is CENTURY II (Exhibition Hall) off of Douglas on the North side of Century
II. Last year we had access to the inside of the Exhibition Hall prior to the race, so that helped
keep people a little warmer. Please read the information in the race packet regarding all of the
race details. The 2 mile run will begin at 8:00 a.m., so we will take a group photo at
approximately 7:45 a.m. That will allow time for the runners to active stretch and get warmed
up and lined up for the start. Hopefully we will bring the participation trophy back home to
Discovery. If you have the time to hang around after the race for the awards that would be
great. Hopefully we will be able we win the participation trophy again and have some individual
winners as the age categories will give our age students a fair chance of earning an award.
The race organizers have adjusted the categories so there will be a 10 – 12 year group.
See you on Saturday, November 23rd. Happy Turkey Trot! And HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
Coaches Harrison, Eisenhauer, Carrillo, and Hitchman
****Remember we take our winter break from D.A.R.T. practices after the completion of the
Turkey Trot until the first Tuesday in April. Run on your own over the winter.
