DiscoveryDay 2016

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the European Union Joint Research Center and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) are jointly organizing a DISCOVERY DAY event to raise awareness about the available technologies, data and services in support of the Global Agenda.

The main session (2:00 – 4:00 p.m.) presents the European Union Spatial Data Infrastructure; the Arctic Spatial Data Infrastructure (a cooperation between the National Mapping Agencies of Canada, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Russia, Sweden, USA and Denmark) Good practices from UK in support of government institutions to make best use of available geospatial applications; DigitalGlobe experience on Harnessing Big Data for geospatial governance and Google Geospatial Tools for good land governance.

The brainstorming session (9:30 – 11:30) will focus on the NEEDS and OPPORTUNITIES. Participants are encouraged to share their experience and make suggestions for joint activities in 2017.

Delegation form the Serbian Republic Geodetic Authority will present their experience in using geospatial data and services and the future plans to establish a Center of Excellence for the use of Geospatial information.

Participants are invited to share their experience and make proposals for the next steps .
